Lot 142 | Lote 142. A little light flavor on the aroma. Could be my glassware. Taste is also a little light. Could be my mouth today. Finish has some good punch and flavor. The buttery finish with some pepper is very nice. Thanks Dustin!

Lot 138 | Fortaleza repo Lote 138R Sample from Brad Ruppel Agave Swappers This Fortaleza Repo lote 138R is very special. Perfectly balanced with agave, barrel spice, vanilla, caramel, citrus and pepper. Wish i had an entire bottle. From Brad re 138R...Glad you enjoyed it! Fun thing about lote 138 - there was actually a blending hiccup during production, so both light and dark bottles of 138R exist. Even the lighter one pours deeper than most lotes, but the bottle you had was from the darker side of the batch. I agree, it hits a great balance overall.

Lot 141 | Fortaleza repo (mi tierra) Lote 141R (Note neck pour) Nose honey cinnamon Palate is a bit off. A little bitter on finish. But its a neck pour so may need to open up. Trying again at hyatt monterey before the festival 2025 Liking it better. Not getting the bitterness but flavor is a bit muted. 3rd try at mi tierra.

Lot 112 | Night: 1-3 From a fresh opening, the aroma reveals petrichor underscored by salinity, layered oak and whiskey tones, rich butterscotch, and a distinctly familiar thread of wintergreen. A snaking, biting ethyl is pronounced. On the palate, cooked agave defines the profile, blending smoothly with sweet oak, petrichor and an earthy undertone. Wintergreen is the core, complemented by, barrel spice, anise, cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of herbal dryness, with subtle citrus tang and a gentle whiskey sweetness. The finish dries gracefully, blending light grassiness and earthiness with lingering notes of oak, pepper, light dry whiskey, and a consistent mineral note.

Lot 114 | Amor y Perros 114-R Nose: Sweet and creamy, with caramel and sweet citrus lifting first. Cooked agave shows itself clearly, woven naturally with oak, barrel spice, and ripe stone fruit. The overall depth pushes into añejo or even XA territory. Palate & Mouthfeel: Full bodied and coating, with cooked agave at the core. Caramel and cinnamon layer in, joined by oak and barrel spice that broaden the structure. Orange zest and stone fruit bring brightness, while the oak lends depth and grounding warmth. Finish: Soft but persistent, with oak and spice tapering slowly while agave lingers underneath. The fade is balanced, never rushed, leaving both wood and sweetness resonating together. Final Thoughts: A tequila of remarkable character, where oak and spice are prominent but never at the expense of agave. Its scarcity and steep markup weigh on value, but by every sensory measure, this stands among the very best I’ve had. Simply delicious.

Single Barrel Reposado R-PSB-46 Winebow Nose: Right from the start, the aroma pulls you in with cooked agave, rich caramel, and smooth vanilla. There’s a nice hint of graham cracker, some bright citrus, and a touch of stone fruit. A soft note of oak rounds it out, adding a little depth and warmth without being overpowering. Palate: Super smooth and buttery. You get that classic sweet agave flavor, layered with salted caramel, vanilla, and just a touch of peppery spice to keep things interesting. Mid-palate brings out hints of raisin, oak, and a whisper of orange blossom. The mouthfeel is full and rich, coating the tongue in all the best ways, so incredibly smooth. Finish: Long and mellow, with lingering notes of vanilla, oak, and soft dried fruit. It fades slowly and sweetly. Final Thoughts: This one’s a gem! It’s rich, smooth, and seriously easy to enjoy. Tons of flavor, just enough complexity, and a finish that keeps going.

Lot 123 | $75 in San Francisco Aroma: 22 Herbal pasture with hints of mint, dill, and a touch of basil. Cooling agave and mild vanilla. Palate: 26 Medium body and mouth feel. Sweet cooked agave and natural vanilla. Lemon citrus. Oak arrives in the late mid and late palate. Very enjoyable. The simplicity of the pour held me back from increasing the palate score. Finish: 22 Nice length and evolution. Value: 7 Tentative 7, could be convinced to switch it to a 6 for a $75 bottle Great buy if you can find it for a reasonable price

Lot 118 | This is a great sipping reposado. I was able to see this at a bar and spend a little time with it to enjoy. Great aromas and flavors from this tequila. Expect nothing less from Fortaleza. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, black pepper, citrus, cinnamon, some earth. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, black pepper, citrus, cinnamon, earth, and minerals. A truly excellent and easy sipping reposado. Fortaleza just does everything right. Just waiting for the day where I can find this on the shelf.

Lot 119 | Nose: Deep caramel and cooked agave from the start. Soon followed by gentle vanilla cream. Very mild earth and minerals. Palate: Medium to thick mouth feel upfront which quickly thins. Sweet rich caramel cooked agave on the front palate. Earthy Vanilla barrel characteristics. Mild spice and pepper. Minerals coming through more on the palate than the nose. Some numbing of the roof of my mouth. Damn good pour! I was able to snag this bottle for $75 which is over MSRP but frankly still a decent value.

Lot 119 | Lote 124 Aroma has the regular Fortaleza repo character plus a little more lime/citrus zest than others. The taste is marvelous and stronger than other batches—a little more pepper, heat and bursting agave! The finish goes a little sweeter than other batches but is still excellent. TMM does not have lote 124 yet.

The nose is sweet cooked agave, caramel, cinnamon, light oak, citrus and some earthiness The taste is like I a symphony of flavors exploding in your mouth. The viscosity is perfect for this taster. Not too oily and not too thin. I get lots of sweet agave followed by oak and barrel notes of bananas and caramel. It also has that Fortaleza earthiness but not very pronounced.

Single Barrel Reposado Nose: floral - rose - lavender / cooked agave / vanilla / fruity - banana/ grapefruit/ honey Taste: cooked agave / vanilla /oak / black pepper/ pineapple/ grapefruit/ lemongrass / black tea / nutmeg/ cream soda Finish: bright clean non-viscous mouthfeel / lingering sweetness and pepper / minty taste on alcohol evaporation/ thoroughly smooth The standard Reposado is similar in many ways except this expression ramps everything up a notch or two. This tequila still allows the agave to stand out and the barrel notes become supporting roles in this liquid drama.

Lot 118 | Wonderful nose on this report great agave sweetness from this Tahona crushed beauty. The barrel imparts plenty of oak along with vanilla and caramel. I get cinnamon and butterscotch. The taste is agave forward and I also get black pepper. The vanilla and caramel give this expression a very appealing taste. I also get some butter and a hint of minerals. Finish lingers and the mouthfeel is very pleasant with nice viscosity. Another winner from Fortaleza.

Lot 120 | Lot 122 (not in TMM yet) served in La Cava de Fortaleza. Gracias a Kobe! I think I’ve said it too many times before, but this one is all around great! From aroma to finish this is the best all-around tequila out there.

Nose: Velvet display of soft butteriness and a mix of cooked and raw agave. As it opens up, notes of lemon citrus, greenery, and jasmine start to emerge. A very gentle oak presence. Flavor: Silky smooth mouth feel with plenty good viscosity. Sweet lemon agave evolves into green notes of gentle herbs, basil and mint. Classic barrel notes towards the end with vanilla, oak, and red fruit. Cherry, stewed, and buttery agave on the finish. This tequila rears perfection for me and is an absolute joy to drink. If only it was more wildly available!

Lot 112 | Actually lote 116 (TMM only goes to 112) As usual one of the all around best, authentic artisanal tequilas you can get…if you can find it. The aroma is delightful with plenty of agave and just the right touch of barrel flavors. The taste is sensational with lots of agave and barrel sweetness. The finish is phenomenal and invites you for another sip.
