Fuenteseca Cosecha 2020 - "La Tuna De Arriba"

Jalisco (Los Valles)

“I loved the 2013 version (super heavy cinnamon), and the 2018 version (some cinnamon with black pepper), but this 2020 is the best of them all. I'm blown away. This is a super complex special treat that contains absolutely everything I love about a tequila agave ...”

“When I first bring it to the nose, I get light nuttiness, honey, caramel, wood, lime, and a soft fruitiness (possibly lychee). Sharp, spiky ethyl and petrichor add a more pronounced edge. On the palate, the profile becomes spicy, floral, and citrus-forward, with lemon and lime accompanied by a very subtle white floral note. Nuttiness and anise also emerge, but the anise is interesting here; it comes across richer and rounder than its usual sharper, more earthy tone I get. The finish is light, with lingering fruit and citrus, a trace of floral character, and a soft barrel sweetness. Cooked agave remains present as everything fades. ”

“With a good sniff or two cooked agave immediately stands out, accompanied by petrichor, light lime citrus, noticeable ethyl pepperiness, and a soft touch of salinity. On the palate, the sweet cooked agave remains the dominant note. Soft pepperiness is joined by light honey, mint, and a subtle wintergreen character, and salinity. The ethyl is more pronounced here, giving the palate a noticeable bite. As it fades, the finish is clinging and earthy, with petrichor and cooked agave lingering alongside soft salinity.”

“This is an extraordinary expression from El Ateo. Deep, rich, layered complexity that I strongly believe will be a bottle that’s talked about in the years to come. Single brand NOM giving you character and versatility. The brand demonstrates great attention to detail and masterful blending. This is the kind of bottle you’d like to grow old with. What I mean by that is that you buy enough to hopefully make it through many more decades. The value on this is great I caught it for 69.99!”

“Tried on 9/12/26 San Antonio Tx tasting. Total transparency, I was impressed by this still strength as the previous profile I tasted in May at Good Juice San Antonio had a quiet impression, where the new Singular leaves a lasting one. Nose: you get anise, green citrus, agave and a plum/grapefruit aroma that sets up the tastes buds. . Palate: first sip makes the tongue tingle with a green minerality and brine explosion and a firm medium burn that lingers. Second sip brings out black pepper, citrus zest and agave cream that tames the burn which makes this still strength dangerously good. this one will be a good pick up for HP lovers. ”
