This is a nice anejo. There is a good amount of natural sweetness in the aromas and flavors but without being overly sweet. Sweet cooked agave is front and center with great barrel aromas and flavors that follow. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, oak, caramel, cinnamon, and a hint of almond. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, oak, and almond. There is a nice long finish where that almond is very prominent. Very enjoyable. Can’t beat the price point either. I paid $65 for my bottle.

Attended a tasting event and this was the only one not previously rated. Very light amber color, considering it was in the barrel for 2 years. Aroma of cooked agave, oak and vanilla. Flavor of cooked agave, black pepper, oak and cinnamon. Medium finish.

Another winner from 1414. Great nose with agave, vanilla and oak. Earthy and fruity. Nutmeg and peach. Tastes of cooked agave, with a harmonious barrel influence of vanilla and caramel with slight oak and cinnamon. I absolutely love this one. Finish is nice and lasting with sweetness that coats the mouth.

Nose: vanilla/ caramel/ butter/ agave cooked / chocolate/ anise / tea / nutmeg/ molasses/ almond / cream soda Taste: vanilla-caramel-cinnamon all at once - big taste / agave cooked / chocolate/ hint of banana/ hint of grapefruit / anise / spearmint/ black tea / nutmeg/ a very tiny trace of tobacco/ molasses/ cream soda Finish: slightly viscous mouthfeel that’s enjoyable- the vanilla-chocolate- caramel- AND cinnamon /mint tastes provide a refreshing and delicious finish This anejo is a bit of a vanilla-caramel-cinnamon and cooked agave bomb….those flavors really leap on to your tongue and stay with you for a bit….so good!!! Very budget friendly option for someone seeking a dessert tequila.

Blind review: 1/31/2024 Aroma: sage brush type of dry vegetation and earthiness hit immediately followed by a slight smokiness and raw agave aroma. As it opens up I get some cooked agave, salt brine, and black olive Flavor: very subtle flavor with some agave sweetness. Somewhat floral with a nice creamy orange blossom honey sweetness. Finish is short with a nice medium body texture. There’s almost no alcohol burn and a nice sweetness is left on the palate.

Sweet nose, caramel, wood, fruity. Thick viscosity, coats the palate entirely. Tastes of honey, caramel, agave and cinnamon. Long finish, sweet but good!

Older bottle from Jim Lannon's collection. Nice spice on the tongue with hints of oak and some solid agave on the back end.

Very easy to sip. Barrel influence is light on this one as the agave definitely shines. I like it. Some heat on the finish but it's welcomed and enjoyable

I just became a huge fan of this brand. The aeroma is a nice agave, slight vanilla and jalapeño peppers. Taste of agave, vanilla, pitted fruit. Little oak, some pepper. Very good wow

Tax stamp 2004: Light golden color. Loads of agave up front. Barrel notes peaking through, spice baked apples and vanilla. Citrus up front, round mouthfeel. Cooked agave that moves to the pepper kick, great complexity and finish for 38%.

The bottle has improved immensely! The liquid inside is equally beautiful. Cooked agave, a touch of vanilla, a little bit of earth, some pepper and cinnamon. This was unbelievable for the price.

An extremely old bottling. Nose: Vibrant nose of over ripe pitted fruit, peachy/apricot and berries. Bold agave, creamy vanilla and some earth notes. Flavors: A lot to like. Cinnamon, cloves, anise, black pepper, vanilla and almond. Oak and agave in a perfect marriage. Nice bright natural agave sweetness to ice the cake. A rewarding experience. The rating picked up a couple of points on price point - $340 pesos from Nuestro Dulces in Tlaquepaque. There is something about this tequila that really reminds me of El Caballito Cerrero...

I love how the Viva Mexico añejo, is a no bull-shit tequila. No glycerin. No added "essence of oak". No added sweetener jive. Nada! Just enough oak to round off the edges, impart some flavor, and still let you know that it is a tequila! This is the kind on añejo that was on the market 10+ years ago, but times have changed. Luckily Viva Mexico is still around! And at $18, it's a no-brainer! Musty, spicy, and earthy with citrus overtones on the nose this añejo has sweet butter, light caramel, pear, black pepper, jalapeño, anise, with a long finish that starts off with that classic citrus peel note that NOM 1414 is known for and leads to a touch of cooked agave.

Lote VMANE2497 25/6/24 Aroma: vanilla caramel, some toasted bread, light stewed agave fruit, and a hint of eucalyptus and white sage Flavor: sweet agave and toffee with lots of vanilla and a touch of minerality Mouthfeel: medium bodied and very little alcohol burn in the back of my tongue Finish: nice long finish that ends p,easant and sweet Color: light yellow honey This is an incredibly smooth and barrel forward Añejo for the price at under $70. This is a great additive free tequila that could be favorable to whiskey drinkers.
