Aroma: 20/25 Surprisingly tight and restricted nose. Lemon, vanilla, Carmel and butter. Not able to pick up much agave. Palate: 25/30 Bright, lemon citrus, and barrel influence. Agave comes through on the palate much more than the nose. Black pepper, vanilla. Mild mouth feel and presence. Finish: 19/25 Flavors fade after a bit but the heat lingers for much longer. Not burning, but a warming heat. Value: 8/10 $45 in San Francisco for a nice additive free tequila. Reminds me a lot of a toned down Sieta Leguas Anejo which I love. I had higher hopes for this pour. Will need to revisit

Nose: Cooked agave at the center with oak, caramel, orange, and vanilla in the mix. Cinnamon adds warmth, and a crisp green apple note cuts through, giving a fresh lift to the sweeter, barrel forward profile. Palate & Mouthfeel: Medium/thin mouthfeel. Agave and oak open the way before a quick flash of green apple fades. Anise, cinnamon, and black pepper take over, rounded out by caramel and butterscotch. Sweet and spice stay in good tension. Finish: Leans spicier and more savory than the palate suggests, with pepper, cinnamon, anise, and oak carrying through. Lingers nicely. Final Thoughts: The nose leans sweet and oak driven. The palate mixes spice, sweetness, and that quick apple burst, while the finish turns fully savory/spice. It almost drinks like three different pours in one. A touch more balance would bring it together, but each stage works. A full of character añejo and a solid value.

This is a really solid Anejo. Aroma and taste are a little underwhelming but the finish more than makes up for it! Sweet with some agave.

Nose: Agave, Oak, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Earth, Apple, Honey, Cherry, Mouthfeel: Relatively thick viscosity; medium to full-bodied. Palate: Cinnamon, Oak, Orange, Butterscotch Finish: Apple, butrerscotch, Oak, Black pepper Some of Suerte expressions that I've ( Suerte Blanco, Suerte SS, Suerte Repo) have had kind of an earthy taste to them. It reminded me vaguely of a tootie roll and I was not the biggest fan of that. I will say that the anejo (somewhat unsurprisingly) has the least of those flavors that I've seen to date in a suerte expression. I enjoyed this more than I had bargained for!

Nose: agave cooked / vanilla/ oak / caramel/ earth / banana/ melon/ grapefruit/ lemongrass / tea / jasmine/ baking spice / chocolate/ toffee/ maple Taste: sweet cooked agave / vanilla/ caramel/ chocolate/ cinnamon/ banana/ melon / lime / orange peel/ peppermint/ anise / tea / baking spice / honey /maple Finish: watery wet - clean and smooth mouthfeel / delicious vanilla and sweet cooked agave notes linger on…with only minimal peppermint notes, this is a finish for those that like sweet. This anejo is thoroughly enjoyable. There are great barrel notes here, but the strength of the distillate in maintaining that sweet unified agave and vanilla flavor is the hero here. This is very good and for the price it’s very hard to beat.

Unique banana flavor, overall very bright and clean. Sweeter oak flavors including caramel and butterscotch emerge here while being balanced with notes of cooked agave and citrus; a touch floral.

The nose is what one may expect out of a traditionally made barrel aged tequila. Plenty of agave up front with notes of oak, vanilla and caramel. The nose is also fruity with some ripe apple. On the tongue we have cooked agave and the traditional taste of cooked agave with oak, vanilla, caramel. I also get cinnamon and a little black pepper. I get mild alcohol on the finish. This is just a well made tequila at a great price. I would definitely recommend this.

Oak and caramel aromas, coupled with bread pudding, cinnamon, and apple pie. Flavors of caramel, oak, baking spices, and a sweet burst of brown sugar. Not too complex, but also quite sweet. Some agave on the finish, with enduring notes of cinnamon flan, with an underlying, somewhat acute sweetness.

This is an excellent Highlands / El Alto Añejo that has been aged for 24 months in charred American white oak whiskey barrels. The nose is sweet and fruity which I’ve come to expect from agave forward Highland tequilas. The cooked agave is nice and buttery while the fruitiness has notes of dark stewed fruits. There are some light barrel tannins and spices coming from the oak barrel. There’s some faint minerality coming from their masonry horno and massive stone tahona. I taste the buttery cooked agave, natural agave sweetness, fruit and barrel notes all at once. It’s a well balanced Anejo that has many delicious notes. The alcohol gives a nice tingle and slightly spicy finish. Although there are many flavors the tequila still rests easy on the palate with a nice medium body.

More oak forward than agave. Agave, cherry and chocolate ( like a cordial), butterscotch and pepper on the finish.

On the nose, cooked agave and that same grassy note from the blanco, but more rounded. Some caramel and sweetness. Almost a chocolate note, more like cacao and hazelnut. On the palate, sweet cooked agave and caramel. That chocolate/hazelnut note comes through very clearly. Cinnamon, some vanilla and either a clove or allspice, something like that. All around competent añejo.

I like it a lot. It builds nicely off the repo. Nice legs on the glass and retains some agave on the nose but makes way for wood and barrel notes. Delicious caramel and vanilla notes shine through on the palate. Very pleasant and easy to sip.

Blind rating: 2/4/2024 score of 89. Previous rating of 87. Aroma: butterscotch, apricot, mango, pear, orange blossom honey, oak, with a hint of dry brush, and cooked agave. Flavor: pear, green apple, honey, lavender, cardamom, orange creamsicle, hint of oak and coffee bitterness. Finish: short with almost no burn. Texture is a bit on the oily side. Great value.

Oak, caramel, cherry or blackberry, and chocolate highlight this 24-month aged Añejo, which also sports nice legs and an attractive price.

Anejo batch #: A230419 40% Aroma hits first with dark cherry, earth, cooked pineapple and agave. Some vanilla and caramel. Wow, more pepper hits the tongue with the anejo than with the blanco and reposado. The heat gives way to a whiskey spice, chocolate, very ripe tropical fruit. The oak is there, but not overpowering. Andes Candie's on the finish. Buttery mouth feel, medium long finish. Even though the price recently jumped from $46 to $60/bottle, it is still a bargain anejo

Aroma : Cooked agave, mild fruitness and spices. Also some honey and light oak. Taste : More cooked agave, vanilla and oak. Some pine as well, the fruity notes here bear some resemblance to cherries. Finish : Medium in length with some oak, vanilla, agave and a little spice. This tequila is fair bodied with a mouth feel that's somewhat oily. Smooth and fairly complex. I'm a fan.

As a blanco and XA fan, I don’t normally gravitate to the añejo, but this expression of the Suerte line is excellent. It’s complex, yet refined. Strong cooked agave, oak, toffee and butterscotch to the palate. Its earthy and caramel-y in the middle with hints of apple and cherry. The smooth finish has a leather feel and is viscous. Really amazing expression.

Tasted at a cata hosted by Clayton Szczech. This guy is great! Nose: Tons of vanilla, almond, dark cherry, pineapple and citrus. Earthy agave notes. Flavors: Punchy barrel spice. Whisky forward entrance that acquiesces to agave, citrus and fruit flavors. Creamy but packs a pepper wallop.

Old rating.. Melon and piloncillo aroma and flavor- what's not to love!? I think this is an old bottle though so I'm not sure if current bottles are the same. Update- just got a new bottle and it's even better! More oily.

This was a tequila I was exited to try. From the reviews on this site and the art work on the bottle. My local retailer was able to bring in at my request. This tequila has very floral aromas, it's initial tastes are of fruits and agave with a very nice smooth finish. I would recommend this to anyone drinking Anejos.
