Tasted at the distillery. This is their high proof Blanco. The Way They Make It They work with stone and fire, not haste The oven’s heat, the tahona's weight. No cultured yeast to guide the brew, Just wild-born air, and time, and fate. The stills are copper, broad and bold, With fibrous hearts that breathe the steam. And when the fire has had its say, They let it rest, as in a dream. Steel cradles hold it, cool and bright, Till bottled clear, with strength to spare. Yet not a burn, but warmth that stays— A honeyed touch on mountain air. It speaks in scents: of mint and clay, Of blossoms crushed beneath the sun. And tastes of earth, and lemon’s kiss, With pepper sharp, but never one To bite too hard or linger sore— Though strong, it’s kind, and proud, and fair. For what it gives, you'd pay far more In other bottles, other lairs.
Tried this for the first time at Grover’s event at Condesa in Rhode Island. This is legitimately spectacular tequila. An awesome nose of cooked agave sweetness, some pepper and citrus. Very clean. On the palette I got more cooked agave, honey, some herbs with an earthy/mineral finish. Very well done!
Wow! This was absolutely off the hook. Minerality, Pepper, Floral, and Citrus notes perfectly balanced with earthy notes. One thing about my palate is that if the earthy notes are too prevalent, for me it dominates the palate. This seemed to have the PERFECT amount of earthy notes.
Floral, mineral, citrus, light cinnamon notes. Lightmanageable heat. Great balance and finish. Excellent blanco
Nose: cooked agave, black pepper, mint, minerality, petrichor. Wonderfully full mouthfeel tastes of dweet agave, anise, mint, incredibly smooth, earthy with a subtle pepperiness Finishes with more sweet agave and notes of espresso beans and a bit more of that subtle spice. This drinks so easy, the palate and finish were much more (naturally) sweet than the nose gave off to me. Delicious and and amazing value
Rated Blind
I for one was SHOCKED! I scored this sample the highest of any samples and once learning what it was and how it’s made, we may be in for “Blanco of the Year” once it lands stateside in 2025! This was my score from the HP/SS blind panel tasting. Crazy points given out, mostly value! We have a Brick Oven Cooked, Tahona Crushed, 92 proof, $65 AGAVE nuke! Dare I say Fortaleza SS has a rival right now?! I will resample/score once I track down a bottle of this, however here’s how it did in the blind!
Smoke, roast agave, a bit of ethanol and some anise on the nose. Mellow entry with natural sweetness and an intensity of flavor that builds to a nice full mouth involved finish. Outstanding of the 10 provided samples. rated #1 of all 20 samples both HP and SS
tmm hp blinds tasting Oct 2024 nose = yeast, pepper, agave, fruit, minerality palate = agave yeast pepper fruit finish = warm with sweet agave and pepper revisited at goodjuice austin and bumped up score cant wait for the 57 version, coming out in 2026! got to try that at goodjuice as well. it's even better!
Nose - Agave, agave slight malolactic funk, tea, flat cola, citrus Taste - Agave, floral, tea, mild funk, spearmint, and pepper. Nice finish Light mouth feel
Blind: Lemony on the nose, but more herbal flavor. Short finish for a high proof but tears are kinda heavy.
Tasted in a CT HP glass. Part of the HP/SS super blind. Nose of agave and berries. Spring flowers. Apple and pears. It is minty. On the palate, this is delicious. Very agave forward and a minty. The ABV works so well with this one.
• Visual: Clear w/ clear medium edge. Takes crazy long time for legs to appear • Initial Nasal Impact: Prickle • Aroma: Honey, jalapeno, cinnamon raisin bread (untoasted), floral, herbal, earth • Mouthfeel: Buttery w/ heavy alcohol • Flavor: Honey on a hot pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, earth, light lemon • Finish: Long, continues to coat tongue. Honey, cinnamon and vanilla carry through
Aroma: (22) agave, smoke, black pepper, citrus Taste: (28) agave, black pepper, cinnamon, citrus. Sweeter than my expectations Finish: (23) lingering agave, baking spices, & citrus. Overall: (89) Tremendous blanco. Sweeter than agave & citrus. $65 value (6)
Truly amazing. There’s a reason it won double gold and best in showing 2025. Even at 56 proof, it so rich with flavor and buttery goodness that it isn’t in the least harsh. Rich buttery agave with natural sweetness. Rich agave forward nose with overripe citrus and banana. Some great minerality and saltiness with a nice long finish that stick with you. Really excellent.
poquito picante pero rico
excelente aroma, agradable y a pesar de su grado de alcohol es agradable en boca y garganta
nose of earth, minerals, some natural sweetness that presents as vanilla, slightly malolactic. nice med-high viscosity mouthfeel. palate confirms the nose. also some anise, some mint. some brine in the finish. I like this but doesn't quite live up to the hype of Blanco of the year for me. I'll definitely drink it again though.
Tasted in Chisholm Trail Glass Sample from Scott O'Halloran A. Sweet Sweet Cooked Agave, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Vegetal, Light Anise, Minerals, Citrus, Herbal, Melon T. Sweet Cooked Agave, Fruity, Vegetal, Black Pepper and Spicy Cinnamon Citrus, Anise, Herbal, Melon, and Floral
On the nose I get minerals, Cooked agave with notes of citrus and a touch of pepper. On the palate the Cooked Agave and minerals are on the front line with a peppery heatness that brings out cinnamon and a long oily finish that coats the back of the tongue. Just a touch of citrus is present.
Aroma: I’m picking up cooked agave, citrus fruits, lime, minerals, some brine, and maybe some apple notes Taste: matches the aroma, along with a peppery kick at the end Finish: a little on the short side, but overall very enjoyable
L1TMA-1 03525, tasted on 5-27-25. Aroma: raw agave, mineral, herbaceous, light acidity, vegetal, hint of Ocho Mesa Colorada, reminds me of Guanajuato agaves. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, hint of floral aroma like Ocho Mesa Colorado, but it is spicy and alcohol sensation is medium to medium high. Finish is medium to medium long, raw agave, mineral and herbaceous notes persist.
Aggressive heat to the tongue, stronger alcohol bite, fiery finish with hint of menthol / mint. Not rated high, but will continue to try. Pour count: 3
Picked this one up through the Agave Swappers Facebook group and it’s a standout. Trujillo Manifesto brings bold cooked agave on the nose with hints of citrus and pepper. The palate is clean, earthy, and balanced with a light spice and easy finish, considering the higher abv (46.3%).
High-proof tequilas, once only for hardcore drinkers, are now being released at a steady pace. Why?
