Nose: A lively mix of agave, pineapple, and grapefruit gives a tropical brightness, lifted by green apple and mint. Oak, vanilla, black pepper, and cinnamon round it out with balance and warmth. Very bright and inviting overall. Palate & Mouthfeel: Thin yet slick in texture. The palate feels more grounded than the nose - cooked agave with caramel and oak at the center, joined by cinnamon, mint, and a touch of earth. Softer and tamer than the aromatics suggest, but still pleasant. Finish: Creamy with sweet agave at the core, fading into plenty of barrel spice that lingers gently. Final Thoughts: The nose is the standout - tropical, bright, and expressive. The palate is more restrained, not overly complex, but straightforward and honest. A no frills reposado that offers excellent value, and one I enjoyed much more than its blanco counterpart.

Luna de Jalisco Reposado – 92/100 Flight: Reposado Flight Contestants: * Cimarrón Reposado * Luna de Jalisco Reposado * Dulce Vida Organic Reposado * Campo Bravo Reposado * ElVelo Reposado * Espolòn Reposado Second in the flight was Luna de Jalisco Reposado. After the herbal, licorice-driven profile of Cimarrón, this pour immediately shifted back toward a more traditional agave-forward style with balanced barrel influence. Nose The nose opens with pleasant oak and light fermentation notes. Cooked agave and minerals provide a solid foundation while the barrel adds warmth without dominating the aroma. Taste The palate delivers a beautiful balance of pepper, cinnamon, and sweet cooked agave. The fermentation character adds depth, but the biggest surprise is what isn’t there—very little tannic dryness. Instead, the flavors remain soft, integrated, and true to the agave. Finish The finish is smooth, warm, and satisfying. Cinnamon and pepper linger comfortably, building gentle warmth with each sip while allowing the agave sweetness to stay present through the end. Overall Luna de Jalisco is a well-balanced reposado that lets the agave remain the star while using the barrel to enhance rather than overshadow the spirit. It offers everything I look for in a traditional reposado—cooked agave, baking spices, restrained oak, and an easy-drinking finish. This is a bottle I would happily pour again. Score: 92/100

Aroma of cooked agave, oak, and faint citrus Flavors of agave, pepper, and perhaps cinnamon Finishes fairly clearly It's a fine tequila for about $47 USD. Maybe I'm spoiled now. But, for about the same value, you could buy something better, like El Tesoro or G4.

Tastes more like a blanco than a repo. Has a pretty harsh finish in my opinion, but overall the flavor isn’t bad.

Heavy yellow citrus aroma, lemon or pineapple perhaps. Fruitiness doesn’t carry over too much to the flavor, maybe a little banana. I get mostly cooked agave with a hint of tobacco/whiskey. $46 at total wine which I’d say is pretty good value for a repo of this quality. Maybe good intro for bourbon drinkers? Very smooth.

Aroma: the nose is pretty mild, but it’s also freshly opened. I get agave, alcohol, maybe some light brine and citrus. Taste: nothing complex, but still enjoyable. I get agave, pepper, lightest bit of mint and lime. Very straightforward flavor profile. Finish: medium length, peppery, nice mouthfeel. Overall: to me, this is a great budget repo. I’d rank it in there with Arette, Suerte, Espolón, and El Tequileno. I paid $42 at TW and think it’s great. The words “summer tequila” come to mind because of its simplicity.

A nice straw color. All areas are very blah/non descript. Nothing bad but not much to differentiate it from other tequilas. The mouthfeel is thin and watery but easy drinking and pleasant. This finishes with a small hint of cinnamon. Overall this is good and easily accessible from TW.

Beautiful well balanced tequila with just about right influence of the wood. Cooked agave, some honey, vanilla and caramel notes perfectly balanced with the agave herbal notes. Natural sweetness with a little spicy finish.
