Received a sample from the Agave Swappers Group. Nose: Agave comes through clearly, but it’s layered with raw vegetal notes, damp earth, minerality and a flash of citrus. Spearmint and a soft florality round it out, though the overall profile leans a little green for my taste. Nothing off putting - just not all that compelling. Palate & Mouthfeel: Medium body with some nice texture. Sweet, cooked agave forms the core, accented by a dusting of cinnamon and black pepper. The citrus shows up again here, bright - giving the sip some lift. Finish: Warming and persistent. That cinnamon/pepper combo lingers and brings a pleasant tingle that sticks around in the best way. Final Thoughts: The nose doesn’t draw me in, but what follows more than makes up for it. There’s enough clarity and spice on the palate and finish to make this bottle worth revisiting. It drinks well above its price - accessible, flavorful, and full of character.
(Agave Swappers) The aroma opens with a confident presence of minerality, cinnamon, and black pepper, followed by warm cooked agave and a soft, bready yeast note. Repeated inhales reveal lemon citrus and brine, with no harsh ethyl interference. On the palate, minerality and anise lead with clarity, joined by bright lemon citrus and a bold wave of cooked agave that grips firmly. A light, well-timed ethyl bite adds the perfect edge. Buttered floral notes and bready yeast persist while a tart vegetal streak cuts through. The finish rides out with pepper and vegetal lingerings, balanced by fading citrus and warm cooked agave. More please….
This nose is on the top end of Excellent, I can’t get my nose far enough in this glass. Tastes great too, it stings the nostril just enough and has a nice top of the throat burn is very satisfying. The finish is very enjoyable, easily lasting 4-5 deep breaths. Thanks Matt from Agave Swappers for this sample, I’ll be adding this to my shelf for sure.
This is a sample from Agave Swappers. The nose is bright with agave and honey. I get a touch of mint, and vegetal notes. Very attractive on the nose. Very little but a touch of alcohol. The palate is similar to the nose but a little more vegetal. Earthy with minerality and green pepper. This is a good tequila that I will recommend. There several really good tequilas starting to pop up in this price category. If you can get this one, it is a worthy add to your collection.
A very solid product. The 43% ABV really carries a-ton of flavor from roast agave in a nice burst of flavor exploding on the tongue. The juice has a nice viscosity that lightly coats the tongue and inner lower lip. Let’s see more from this brand. Thanks to Matt C of Agave Swappers FB group for the sample.
A solid offering from the Prolijo team. Excited to see what else they come out with.
Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Agave, Vegetal, Hay, Honey, Grass, Floral Palate: White Pepper, Minerality, Mint Finish: Pepper, Vegetal, Grass, Agave This nose really gets better and better with a little breathing. Floral and honey start to arise. On the finish, I get lots of grass and pepper
Prolijo anejo 43 abv Sample from Matt C, Agave Swappers Nose: vegetal, hay, yeast, alcohol Palate: sweet agave and vegetal, not complex Finish: short Overall: Easy sipper, not complex
Aroma: Butter, cooked agave, white sugar, vanilla, vegital, honey, slight toasted marshmellow Pallet: Sweet cooked agave, white sugar, vegital, vanilla This tastes like tequila should. I can tell it’s made clean, using some of the more traditional methods. It’s not complex, but it’s great. The sweetness is next level in a great way. It’s agave! It’s as simple as that! Thanks Agave Swappers for this sample! I’d never heard of the brand and am glad I have had the chance!
Beautiful agave nose. Getting a bit of vegetal? Bit of vegetal follows through on the palate but has a nice pepper finish. I love this nose and finish. This is really good Sample provided by Agave Swappers
Aroma: From the start, rich Sweet Earthy Agave mixing with a heavy Vegetal aroma meets you. Anise and Herbal notes do make you stand at attention and give off a Valley Tequila vibe. Black Pepper is very present on the nose. Then, a Highland style Citrus blending with Floral and Fruity touches turns this into a different direction and a slight level of confusion to most Tequilas on the market. With the Deep Well Water, the Minerality shines. And right at the end, a light lactic note emerges. Taste: There are some very similar traits between the nose and the taste. Most notably, the mixing of Valley and Highland flavors that are accustomed to the perspective regions. Sweet Cooked Agave that runs side by side with a nice Vegetal and ever so slight Anise flavor. The spice from Black Pepper let's you know they Stainless Steel Pot Stills did their job. Some Herbal and Grassy Notes are nice and complimentary. Once through these more Valley flavors, the Citrus typical of Highland Tequilas makes itself known with a sweet Floral kiss. The Minerality and Earthiness keeps this grounded. A light amount of unriped banana lays on the palate with a smidgen of Creaminess. Finish: A nice long Agave and Black Pepper finish that has a little Anise along for the ride! TMM-86 Salud!
Received a sample from the Agave Swappers Group. Nose: I pick up agave, mint, light alcohol, and some other aromas I’m having a hard time identifying. I’d call it slightly pungent, but not in a bad way. It’s definitely unique and inviting. Taste: Lots of sweet agave, a peppery kick, lime, and a little viscosity. Great supper for sure. Finish: This one sticks around for a while. Nice peppery notes leave you wanting more. Overall: I like it quite a bit. I saw it retails in a liter and the price I saw was well worth it in my opinion. If I see a bottle I’d definitely pick it up.
Sample from Agave Swappers Nose: Cooked agave, minerals, black pepper Flavor: Cooked agave, black pepper, mint, minerals Finish: Short with some black pepper and mint.
Prolijo Tequila Blanco opens with a challenging nose—heavy on hay and funk—that may be off-putting at first. However, the palate tells a different story, offering a much sweeter experience than expected, with soft cooked agave and light citrus notes. The mouthfeel is on the thinner side, but the short finish is clean and pleasant, leaving behind a subtle bitter sweetness. It's a decent tequila, although the initial aroma may be a hurdle for some.
Agave Swap Nose: cooked agave, hay, floral, slight pepper Taste: floral, cooked agave Finish: white pepper, cooked agave Short finish but a solid and clean blanco
Nose is Sweet cooked agave, vegetal, mineral and grass. Taste is Agave, minerals, pepper and mint. Used a Riedel stem.

It delivers a nice earthy, citrus, herbal profile. It’s got a good finish and a low/mid price point to go along with excellent production process.
