On the nose, I pick up cooked agave, vanilla, light oak, and a touch of green apple that adds a refreshing brightness. The palate opens with sweet cooked agave layered with caramel, cinnamon, and warm baking spices. As it develops, the flavors deepen, and the finish lingers with a pleasant mix of subtle sweetness, oak, and a clean note of cinnamon that ties everything together beautifully. This is a standout reposado offered at a fair price, and I’m genuinely excited to see what Cultura 100 creates in the future. I’m definitely a fan.
I received this sample from the Agave Swappers FB group. Nose: Cooked agave comes through first, wrapped in crisp green apple and a lift of citrus. Oak and cinnamon add warmth, while vanilla and caramel bring a rounder sweetness. Beneath that, a touch of grass and minerality give it some grounding, with tropical fruit aromas keeping things bright. Palate & Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is medium with a light slickness, carrying flavors smoothly across the palate. Agave leads the way, joined by orange and a thread of oak. Cinnamon builds gently alongside green apple, while black pepper sparks against softer notes of vanilla and caramel. Finish: The finish lands zesty and full of cinnamon, though it fades quicker than expected. A faint echo of spice lingers, keeping the profile lively even as it lightens. Final Thoughts: This reposado leans brighter than most, with apple, citrus, and tropical notes giving it a fresh edge. It feels distinct in a crowded price range and holds its own character. I could see this being an excellent match with fish tacos - its brightness would complement them beautifully.
(Agave Swappers) Nose: Petrichor and earthiness (rich soil) are the dominant notes encountered along with light soft wood, unobtrusive ethyl, cooked agave, distinct freshness, and complementing citrus. Palate: Cooked agave, Light wood, tangy citrus, wine-esque note (floral), salinity. Finish is tingling pepperiness, light salinity, clinging agave, and fading barrel spice
Decent nose with some light barrel notes. Palate is a little musty and leaves some to be desired. The finish has a little pepper which is nice though. I prefer the Blanco. Sample provided by Agave Swappers for review
Sample courtesy of Matt Cavanaugh and Agave Swappers FB page. More fruit notes on the palate than several of the recent samples tasted, this Reposado is quite approachable and now I wish I had more than just this sample, lol. Good mouthfeel, nice pepper and some great natural sweetness rounds out this 1414 product.
Vessel: CTC Jarrito Nose: Mint, Leather, Chamomile, Stonefruit, Honeysuckle Palate: Honey, Pear, Pepper Finish: Honey, Oak, Vanilla, Apple Light-bodied, not overly complex and easy ro drink. Fruitier notes seem to kick in on the palate and finish! I'm convinced 1414 just doesn't make bad reposados!
Sample from Agave Swappers group, Thanks for the opportunity to sample this Matt C! It’s only been sitting in my glass for about a minute and the aroma is light pear fruit leather. Very nice reposado nose, not to sharp, not too woody. Amazing entry to my parched, thirsty taster. Agave, minerals, and what feels most like tasty sweet figs. A young, flavorful, spiced finish to boot. Fantastic Reposado.
Cultura 100 Repo 43 abv sample bottle sent to me Neck pour from a riedel glass. I let sit 20 mins to open. Agave honey barrel spice citrus cinnamon caramel anise minerality some stone fruit, even got some raspberries on the nose. More comes through the longer it opens. Finish nice heat/warmth that comes back around and lingers Overall, really enjoying this. nice mouthfeel, easy sipper
As there have been several Cultura 100 Reposado reviews out lately, I thought I'd switch mine up just a bit. As a disclaimer, this bottle was sent to me from Cultura 100. As a second disclaimer, My Fuerte Fanatics brother Keith Bogart has had a hand in tasting these for the owner. So how did I approach my review, I thought I'd see how this measured up against what might be its competition. My first thought was to search my cabinets for something similar in price and proof. That turned out to be a difficult task. At 86 proof, Cultura 100 is a high proof. While I do have several HP repos, it would hardly be fair to put them up against Single Barrel Repos. So, alas, I decided to taste it alongside a brand that completes with it price wise, Pedro Furtivo, and a couple of its cousins from 1414 (Lost Lore and Siempre). The Siempre Reposado is pretty similar in price as well. I let all breathe for 30 minutes. I will focus on the nose and palate of the Cultura 100 and the specifics of what I think about the others are all on TMM. I would normally drink the HP out of a CTC HP glass but to level the field I used Glencarins. First off, the Cultura 100 Repo has a nice nose. I do pull in cooked agave and nice nice aroma of mint. I get a nice Lime aroma that is one of the dominant citrus notes. The pepper is light and more towards a white pepper. I'd say on the nose, this was a touch better than all but the Lost Lore (the most expensive of this group). On the palate, this is earthy with olive brine and minerality. I get the citrus, anise and I get barrel spices. I'm not pulling a lot of vanilla or caramel as some have. But the sweetness of the agave does come through. On the palate, Lost Lore and Siempre are my favorites. This does battle well with Furtivo. I wished this finished a little better. Slightly bitter finish (some people like that but it isn't my preference. Overall, I find this tequila very good for its price point. I will enjoy this and can easily recommend it to others. Love that you can get a HP Repo for under 50. My TMM is an 86. Within a point or two of all of the others I tasted with this one
The aroma is dominated by sweet cooked agave, with vanilla, caramel. tastes include sweet agave and oak, followed by vanilla, butterscotch, and caramel. Tropical fruit, citrus The finish is medium to long, with the sweet agave and oak flavors
Rated as part of #agaveswappers Some mint, anise, herbs and ethanol on the nose. I can see some apple. Very bright snappy fruit. Not a great nose tbh. Could use a bit more citrus and minerality, and a bit more character. The taste matches the nose for the most part, but the palette is somewhat better. The finish doesn’t linger much. A little too much ethanol. The taste gets better if you agitate it a bit and let it open up. Very faint barrel if any. Needs a bit more depth overall, but still a decent effort.
I wanted to really like this. Unfortunately it’s not my jam but that’s ok. I’m appreciative of the opportunity to try this as I won a free bottle but this in my opinion isn’t the best of 1414. Reminder that when owners come in to distilleries they ask for a certain profile or work on it to the owners like. Sergio Cruz makes some of my all time favorites so I would say this profile is for a niche group that I’m not a part of. Looks like a good value for about 35 bucks from hi proof in California.
Agave Swappers group sample Nose: apple, earth, cooked agave, oak, fruit Taste: black pepper, cooked agave, apple, fruity Finish: peppery, cinnamon, fruit, apple This is another top notch 1414 product. A lot more of a fruit forward repo with an awesome barrel and peppery compliment.
Nose and Taste has a little alcohol. Nose is cooked agave, pepper and a little mint. Taste is earthy, minerality and pepper. Used a Chisholm Trail standard Jarrito for tasting. Good price for a decent Reposado.
Agave swapper sample Aroma: bitter sweet like Gala apple, light pepper. Vegetal On my pallete it’s a duplicate of the aroma , bitter sweet apple, pepper, maybe some cucumber type vegetal with the agave kinda taking a backseat. Clean, crisp, nice velvety minerality. I dig it. I will definitely be looking to stock some in my collection. 43% ABV THANK YOU MATT @Agaveswappers
sample from agave swappers. thanks, Matt! mild aroma of agave, cinnamon, apple. the palate is similarly light. very easy to drink. agave, black pepper, quite pleasant. some bitterness on the back end. no burn. getting a little chocolate on the palate now, as it continues to rest in my glass. finish is enjoyable. plenty nice enough to sip. I like this better than the Blanco. good value bottle for a repo under $50.
Cultura 100 Reposado – Sample from Agave Swappers Nose: A welcoming mix of cooked agave and fresh mint, layered with vegetal notes, a touch of minerality, and a hint of fruit sweetness. There’s a light alcohol presence that doesn’t overpower the balance. Palate: Opens with peppery spice and an intriguing funky character that shows up in the first few sips, adding uniqueness without being overwhelming. This gradually gives way to a gentle sweetness that rounds out the profile. Finish: Medium in length, coating the mouth with a smooth, buttery sensation that lingers pleasantly. Overall: Definitely one to try if you can.
Sample provided by Agave Swappers. Nose: Cooked agave, fruit (can't pinpoint it), a hint of lemon or lime (maybe both), and some baking spice. Flavor: Cooked agave, cocoa, a bit of bitterness that's sort of leathery maybe, more baking spices, and very light oak notes. Finish: For me the finish went straight to black pepper, even though the black pepper notes were quite subtle beforehand. Hangs around for a moderate amount of time before fading into a peppermint numbing of the tongue. Overall: As others have mentioned, this is a great reposado for someone who prefers lighter aging (such as myself). I think it's a great tequila for the price point I've seen.
Cultura 100 Reposado is a well-rounded tequila that balances sweetness with a slight barrel influence. The nose brings cooked agave, vanilla, and light oak. On the palate, I get sweet cooked agave, caramel, cinnamon, and baking spice. The finish is lingers leaving behind a subtle sweetness and hint of oak. A great reposado that is offered at a fair price. I'm excited for Cultura 100 and what they do in the future, I'm definitely a fan! Sample provided by Agave Swappers Facebook group.
This tequila is an excellent entry point for newcomers. The nose is muted, offering little upfront complexity, but on the palate it opens smoothly and remains approachable throughout. The finish is long, with well-balanced peppery and minty notes that provide depth without overwhelming. Overall, a refined and easy-drinking tequila ideally suited for beginners. #AgaveSwappers
The brand is owned by Jaime Juarez. Earlier this year, he released his Blanco. On a trip to Mexico this past winter, Keith Bogart, Tequila Connoisseur and Agave Advocate was introduced to Jaime. Keith has become an excellent ambassador for the Tequila Category. A friendship between the two became more when Keith was asked to help work on the profile for the Blanco with Jaime and Sergio Cruz. This has lead to Keith helping with the profile on this new Reposado on another trip to Arandas. His continued effort to help Jaime build a new brand isn't lost on anyone in the Community! The production of this begins with ripe Estate Grown Agaves being selected. They are then cooked in Stone/Brick Ovens for a total of 30 hours before being cooled over the next 24 hours before being macerated with Roller Mills and Deep Well Water being added. Fermentation uses Native Yeasts in Stainless Steel Tanks. The mosto is then distilled twice in Copper Pot Stills. The finished Blanco is then aged in Used American Oak that has a Medium Char placed back on the barrels. The Reposado is aged for 6 Months. Blending and Finishing had The Vivanco Team, Jaime, and Keith working to find the right ABV. The team was happy with the 43% ABV or 86 Proof they bottled. Aroma: Like everything made at the Distillery, Sweet Cooked Agave was at the forefront. An explosion of Citrus mixes with Mint and the Minerality that the water offers. A Vegetal and Grassiness let you know this is still a product of the Earth! Once you get past many of these Blanco-esque notes the Barrel notes of Oak, Vanilla, and Marzipan emerge, but are on the lighter side and not overpowering. The finesse of the aroma finishes with Tropical Fruits and a Sweet Floral note. Taste: The same Sweet Cooked Agave on the nose is very much still the star! The Oak and Vanilla hang out the Super Citrus and Mint flavors. Black Pepper drives the spice note with a Vegetal and Anise touch. The Anise offers just a touch of needed bitterness. A smidge of Floral nuiances blends with just a touch of Raw Almonds. Finish: The Agave runs for a good Medium length with the Anise, Black Pepper, and Mint running point. Overall this is a good tequila. My personal opinion is this needs time to open up with lots of oxygen. Personally, if you're someone who likes lesser barrel influence like Reposados produced by the Camarena's this will be for you! TMM-84 Salud!
On the nose I get a light hint of Cooked Agave and caramel. On the palate the Cooked Agave is still very present along with Caramel, black cherry and a touch of honey. I look forward to trying this again in a few weeks to see how much more it opens up. Another banger from Master Distiller Sergio Cruz and NOM 1414
