Solid offering for the value. If you’re a whiskey or cigar person you’ll enjoy it. I’m neither of those but also enjoyed it.

For me, this carries a resemblance to Código Origen, though with noticeably more assertive barrel spice. ( In hindsight, the assertive flavor could also be amplified by the higher ABV.) The aroma is immediately inviting: cooked agave layered with cherry, clove, vanilla-maple sweetness, cinnamon, and a warm whiskey undertone that adds anticipation. On the palate, every element from the nose returns with greater intensity. The barrel spices step forward as the dominant force, supported by rich agave and the same cherry-vanilla profile, cacao, caramel, maple, and allspice promised on the aroma. A delicious extra añejo. If anything, the spice leans just a touch heavy, but for the price point, it tastes like a genuine deal for what it delivers. (I did not rate the price)

A little too woody and can taste the sweet char but not bad. Prefer less dark extra añejos.

Deep and broad nose. So pleasant, lightly sweet, spice fruit, everything you want in XA. Agave there and wood not overpowering. The high ABV 53 makes the viscosity truly exceptional. Legs narrow and still forming minutes after first swirl. Color is red and gold, clear as a crisp fall morning. Taste has initial blast from ABV53 that dissipates quickly and lingers on the palate. By third sip it is very smooth but that extra heat is always there, and the complexity really emerges. All the fruits and spices you expect from a well planned XA. Crazy to say but it compares favorably to the Tears of Llorona and Tapatio Exelencia, both of which I’ve been drinking lately. Nose is right there and flavor profiles align, however, the heat puts it in a special class. Super bargain at 150 for a liter on the website. That is what puts it firmly in mid to high 90s
