I found this to be a bit underwhelming. It has a decent profile but seems very one dimensional. I had a 3 ounce sample and sampled 1.5 ounces on 2 separate occasions.

On the nose I initially get hit with a pleasant yet strong wave of soft agave with a bell peppery vegetal aroma just underneath. As I sit with it longer, I find a hint of fruit sprinkled with Tajin. Or maybe that's my brain suggesting some complementary flavors. The palate starts out feeling rather thin, but the agave and vegetal flavors suggested by the nose come in accompanied by black pepper and a clay earthiness I quite like. The stronger flavors of the finish disappear much too quickly, but the lingering taste of agave coats my mouth nicely and lasts long enough for me. I managed to pick up this bottle on sale for $30, and the bottle is quite attractive. It's not my favorite, but I look forward to enjoying the rest of this tequila. I would have no problem with purchasing this again, especially at that price.

Despite the significant differences, its profile is somewhat similar to that of an unaged agricole rum, slight funk, subdued tropical fruit, citrus, and thick mouthfeel with savory flavor. Worth trying, though not as good as the well-known brands.

On the nose I get a big hit of sweet agave, bright lemon peel, some minerality and a few light floral notes On the palate, you get that sweet agave along with that lemon and citrus peel, there’s a tiny bit of black pepper and minerality and I get those floral notes at the end.

Nose: Cooked agave, fresh lemon, honeydew melon, and orange peel. Bright, clean, and expressive without being thin. Palate: Agave sweetness up front with delicate white florals, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and a soft cinnamon note threading through. Lifted minerality creates an almost effervescent texture mid-palate. Finish: Warm, bright, and clean. Candied lemon peel, green pepper, and a crack of pink peppercorn fading gently. Overall: As the prominent mezcal brand’s first foray into the tequila space, this is a genuinely expressive Highland blanco at a fair price. The champagne yeast and red clay terroir tell a clear story from nose to finish. Worth watching as the brand builds its credibility. At $35 it earns its shelf space on quality alone.

The original master distiller of Lalo before the brand sold to Tito’s btw Paid $36 Very clean profile very reminiscent of Lalo
