This is an interesting pour. The more I sit with it the more I enjoy it. Continues to grow on me even after sitting with it for more than an hour. Aroma: 22/25 Noticeably thick, heavy, and viscous. Initially it is like a mellow lemon dipped in sugar and coated with freshly cut grass. Clean and fresh. Not as much cooked agave presence as I was hoping for at first but the more it opens up, the more agave comes out. Palate: 26/30 Sweet white pepper in the front palate. Soon followed by a lemon citrus with undertones of asparagus and baking spice. Silky smooth mouth feel. Almost a hint of vanilla bean. Finish: 22/25 Surprisingly long for a 40%er with a pleasant warmth to it. Like sitting next to a warm fire pit kind of warmth rather than ethanol burn. Mild tingle on the tip of my tongue. Value: 8/10 $33 at my local liquor store in San Francisco. I can’t imagine anyone complaining about this value. Great process, additive free, and at a fair price. Other: Very easy to pour without any dripping which is surprisingly rare these days. This will be one I’ll revisit and refine my rating.

Flavor is awesome. Complexity was average, and the finish was short. Still a really good blanco. Would definitely order this at a restaurant if they had it!

Found this to be a very solid blanco. Lots of citrus pepper and mint. Agave is not super strong but noticeable. Would definitely have again.

I use to love the blanco. Revisiting it I get some medicinal, chemical notes I’m not sure about.

This is a re-rating based on a new lot released in early 2026. My original rating was an 83. Earthy nose with sweet cooked agave. Nice minty nose. Citrus. Unfortunately I did not take notes when I first rated this and it was probably done at a tequila festival. I like this nose. It isn’t super complex but it is attractive and makes you want to taste the juice. On the palate, it is also earthy and warm. I get cinnamon. Not like on the Volcán Blanco Tahona (tall white bottle) but reminds me more of that offering. The cooked agave comes through and a bit of black pepper. I do get the mint and like the nose, not overly complex. However, this is an approachable tequila that I could recommend sipping or mixing in a cocktail. This was sent to me to retry as apparently the process has changed. I can tell you that while I don’t have the older for comparison that I know based on my rating this is a better product. I really wish they would have sent a note on the changes. If you tried this in the past and wasn’t too keen on it, then it is worth another try for sure. I give this an 87

Nose: Agave, Black Pepper, Smoke, Vegetal, Pear, Citrus Mouthfeel: Super light and airy viscosity Taste: Minty, Herbaceous, Grassy Finish: Mint, Alcohol, Black Pepper To be honest, I just found this tequila to be rather dull. Seemed to lack the agave depth, or other profiles that I look for. Edit: The brand made a new batch that they sent me a sample of to try and there has been some improvements! Updates: Nose: Earthier and funkier on the nose with a bit more pungency than previous releases. The same Vegetal notes remain but less with citrus. Palate: Still Grassy on the palate but a bit more pepper and overall heat as well, which is complimentary in my opinion. Finish: Similar but comes off a tad bit more Herbaceous than the previous releases I have had. I think the brand improved on their product but it still didn't blow me away. That said, I think they are definitely moving in the right direction. It's Definitely worth trying the new batch in a swap!

Volcán de Mi Tierra Tequila – New Batch Review Nose: Right off the bat, I’m getting cooked agave. It’s very vegetal, a little bit funky—but in a good way. It’s got some character to it. Palate: Cooked agave comes through again right away. Very green, very vegetal, with just a little bit of light citrus in there. There’s also this nice vegetal heat that starts to build as you keep sipping. Finish: The finish is where it kind of changes a bit—it’s a slow, creeping heat. Almost like a fresh jalapeño. Medium length, nothing crazy, but it sticks around just enough. Mouthfeel: Pretty light, easy to drink. Overall: This one leans hard into those vegetal notes. If you like that cooked agave, green profile, you’re gonna enjoy this. And that little jalapeño-style heat on the finish definitely makes it stand out a bit.

A bit of tingle on the nose— but pleasant. Butter cream sweetness — deliciously balanced, a nice mineral presence mid-palate, cooked agave. A quick finish but clean and balanced between tropical sweetness and minerality.

Revisited on 4/27/2026. previous score was 81. Brand sent samples of new profile. NOSE is not super complex. Aromas of Agave, lime, musty room, apple cider vinegar, subtle notes of peach, black olive, truffle and wet forest. TASTE is almost identical to nose except a bit more fruit and pepper but unbalanced.

Blind tasting: 2/4/2024 Aroma: clean and crisp with a nice citrus nose. Lemon zest and grapefruit at first followed by cinnamon. Hints of cardamom and wet cement. Flavor: a lot of lemon sweetness followed by some allspice and a heavy dose of cinnamon. Very clean drinking. Finish: medium length with a slight warming in the chest.

Originally I had this at a tequila festival out of a small plastic cup which didn’t blow me away. I was urged to retry it and glad I did. On the nose I find a fresh and bright agave earthiness, citrus fruit (melon), tad bit of minerals and slight vanilla on the backend end. The palate is balanced with cooked agave, citrusy fruit like melons, slight earthiness, little anise and mint right before a mild peppery finish. This has a medium finish with the light pepper that stays on the tongue I pulled this from a 78 to a 83 after spending some time with it.

first tried at latf 2023 revisited May 2026 Volcan invited some AMM panel members to try their newest batches of blanco and repo. I did a blind tasting between the two blancos (previous batch from flaviar tasting, 2/2026, and the new bottle they sent 4/2026). I found they really needed to sit and open up (20-30 mins!)  I liked the nose on the new blanco better. I found it to be fruity with anise and minerality vs the older version, which had cinnamon but a strong barnyard funk thats not as prevalent in the newer expression.  ---Side note: I get that weird funk with other expressions sometimes. It's not malolactic, instead it seems to be more of a processing imperfection. I'm curious where that funk comes from - could it be the high-pressure autoave or the cold filter filtration or something else?-- The palate on the new expression was less complex than the older one (possibly making it more approachable to newbies), and the finish was less bitter than the older expression, so that's good. Overall, the new blanco is slightly better than the previous expression.

Bottle: L911D210158, 11:42 AM, 1016, 05/05/2021 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, buttered popcorn, alcohol, yeast/dough, lactic, fruity, Rainier cherry, green apple, pear, citrus, lemon, wet earth, minerality, wet cement, white pepper, brine/salinity, flowers, lavender, and vanilla…complex and intense, but not harsh Palate: Cooked and raw agave, wet and dry earth, minerality, wet cement, butter, yeast/dough, black pepper, citrus, lemon, flowers, lavender, herbal, lemongrass, vegetal, cut grass, and Rainier cherry…more earthy, less sweet/fruity than the nose Finish: Wet earth, flowers, lemongrass, Rainier cherry, and alcohol…intense, warming, and long with an oily mouthfeel Overall: I think it’s really interesting how both Tequila Valley and Los Altos agave influences come through, albeit at different times. The palate was initially a bit more fruity, floral, and sweet, but then transitions to more of an earthy profile with more intense minerality on the palate. There’s also this pleasant, mild cherry note sans tartness persisting throughout that provides a great degree of continuity. This is a great sipper, but it’s also affordable enough to make an exceptional cocktail.

The first taste was sweet with soft wet stone. I do enjoy this Blanco and would buy again. The aroma to me, after airing out, is Stone,Pears,Green Apples, Green Grapes,Floral,Autoclave nuttiness,Chamapagne and Caramel tucked in the back. The initial taste is flash of bundle sweetness and zesty cream soda stoniness (makes me think of ICEE), cloying heat that dances on the tongued and throat, simultaneously tasting of citrus, mints, green fruits and nuttiness. The dry down is not overly remarkable, slight spice, a nice quiet fade away.

Great nose of citrus, agave, and light pepper. The taste doesn’t quite match up to the nose but has similar notes with some slight anise. Short finish but overall great value

A – Butter, dulce de leche, honey, cola, anise, allspice, get in my belly aromas! In the best way, minerals and yeast. Cooked agave and alcohol, of course. I’m a sucker for sweets and I can’t wait to taste. T – My initial experience in nosing was matched during the tasting process. Anise, cola, cinnamon, allspice, cooked agave, black pepper. Traveled around the tasting wheel and checked off mint, basil, and oregano heading into the finish. F – An excellent finish, warming my upper chest with each sip.   Overall – This had an oily mouthfeel that speaks to me. The more I drink it, the more I like it. Chef’s kiss!

Rated as part of a blind taste test, surprising results! Aroma: Initially hits with aromas of fruit, upon taking the time to single one out, honeydew melon. The fruit aromas meld with cooked agave to produce a very interesting sweetness. Taste: Very mild, with a light and silky mouthfeel, slightly fruity. Finish: A fruit filled finish, the flavors of melon from the aroma reappear. Very nice overall, with some herbal notes, as well as anise and spice.

Solid blanco. Lot of hype lately for it and I personally don’t see that. Doesn’t mean its not great. Above average mixer but below average sipper. Kind of caught in the middle for me.
