Regular Anejo Sampled at Starved Rock Tequila Fest. 85 Gold Eagle French Oak single barrel - 87
Interesting blend of American and French oak takes you on a flavorful journey!
It’s a decent Añejo. Doesn’t impress.
Quality anejo with lots of caramel, vanilla and baking spice. There's also a strong maple flavor. Comes down to preference. I'm not a big fan of the maple but someone else may be.
Very nice Anejo, sweet cooked agave, spice, vanilla, caramel and light butterscotch, a. Good price point also
This is an absolutely amazing anejo. Love the influence that the French oak plays on this one. The agave is still front and center with great barrel notes. Nose: cooked agave, caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, oak, baking spice, and maple. Palate: cooked agave, caramel, butterscotch, chocolate, oak, maple, and nutmeg. A very nice buttery mouth feel with a medium finish. Absolutely love this anejo.
This is one of my favorite Anejo’s. You can tell that there is an amazing blanco in this bottle. The agave is to star of the show.
The nose on this anejo was my favorite part. Bright caramel, stewed fruits, cinnamon, and vanilla. The palate followed suit, but wasn’t as intense as the nose had suggested and the finish was mid range. In the past I’ve felt that Alma Del Jaguar’s aged options have been too austere & overoaked. The Anejo follows suit, but the flavors presented are far more balanced than the Reposado.
Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Butterscotch, Agave, Vanilla, Maple, Hazelnut, Oak (faint) Body: Medium Palate: Carmel, Cream Soda, Vanilla, Oak Finish: Carmel, Almond, Vanilla
Nose: cooked agave, honey, ripe red fruit, light oak, caramel and sweet cinnamon Flavor: cooked agave, barrel notes, cinnamon, earthy, very soft mouthfeel, and olive brine in the background Finish: medium that starts out sweet and moves to white pepper Note: this definitely a food friendly tequila
Light Anejo with sweet barrel notes. Vanilla, cinnamon and honey. Caramel. On the palate I get nice sweet agave, vanilla, cinnamon and caramel. Very nice finish.
Aroma: Red fruit- plum, cherry, some grape. Baking spice, honey, a little agave. Love it. Flavor: baking spice, baked apple, pear, honey, saline, oak, cooked agave. The French oak really comes through. Mouth feel is very soft and on the watery side. Finish lingers just the right amount of time and there’s no burn.
Anejo Hi Proof Sib. This Anejo was rested in American Oak for 23 months comes in at 102.4 proof On the nose I get Oak, rich Vanilla, Orange peel with Cinnamon. on the palate I get Oak, Vanilla, Caramel followed by the Orange peel with a little pepper. With just a little Dried Cherries on the backend finish is long. The higher proof definitely makes it more enjoyable Edit after this bottle opened up a little more notes of milk chocolate and candied oranges come to the party.
On first sniff notes. It’s like Siete leagues anejo. The distinction is pretty close. On the tongue nice and smooth with a lil lick finish.
for aromas I am getting honey, cooked agave, oak and carmel. has nice tears drop legs. Bronze in color. flovors: Butterscotch, carmilized red apple and oak and wildflower honey. medium long finish with more of the same.
This should be at the top of anyone’s list of Añejo. Both the French and American oak notes shine. the butterscotch, mellow oak with tropical fruity notes of the French and the sweet vanilla and bright oak and spices from the American oak is excellent. Also I need to mention the agave and earthiness notes are noticeably present throughout. So so good if this had a smudge more agave notes it would be on fire.
Light approachable anejo. Presents as a reposado.
Nose: Vanilla swetness, definitely the oak from the barrel, caramel taste: Soft, long lasting, definitely taste the barrel, agave, caramel
Aroma is of cooked agave, oak, and vanilla. Flavor is sweet with lots of barrel notes - oak, vanilla and molasses. Finish is long and starts hot and tapers off with sweet barrel notes. Might be a little too much from the barrel for my tastes.
SiB Trevor’s / 23 months American Oak / 0 months French oak / 51.5% / 103 proof Amazing
Nice and light, beautiful barrel notes, sweet agave finish
Single Barrel Anejo from Hi Proof. Vanilla caramel bomb with a very clean peppery finish. Not a whole lot of agaves this would be good for bourbon drinkers or those looking for an additive free alternative to Don Julio 1942.
This is an absolutely delicious tequila. It takes everything I like about the reposado and ramps it up to 11. The nose takes me on vacation to Disney World's EPCOT Germany pavilion, where you can find the Karamel Kuche bakery. It's a lovely agave smell wrapped in caramel and butterscotch, a flavor profile I'm starting to recognize as a result of the aging in French oak casks. The palate is quite good and follows through on the promise of the nose, but now the caramel is more of a salted caramel. However, this is also the weakest aspect of the experience as you can tell it was watered down. I get the feeling that a 46% ABV would do a world of good. The finish brings those delicious bakery flavors back to the front in a wonderful way. Where this expression loses most of its points is its price point. As it is with most anejos this is one to save up for. Overall, however, I'm very happy, and I'm looking forward to enjoying this bottle.
Alma De Jaguar Anjeo Summary: Home run, best of the line up. Lovely nose and a well-balanced, aged expression that retains its tequila roots. Aroma: Natural roasted agave, lightly oaked, and trace of tropical banana and vanilla. Sweetness is in good proportion to the barrel influences. Taste: Initial draw of toasted oak with mild sweetness and slight minerality. Caramel, vanilla, a dusting of nutmeg with a faint dried cherry and smokey finish. A very solid anjeo.
