Nice earthy tequila on the nose. Plenty of agave. Citrus. Lemon. On the palate, minerality, earthy, citrus notes. Pepper. Finish is nice with good agave lasting for a medium amount of time good value.
The distillery has roots dating back to 1865, when Don Miguel Orozco Navarro founded it. The Distillery is located in Jesús-Maria, which is Jalisco's highest elevation town at nearly 7000 feet! For a long time, the distillery was a supplier of Agaves and making Distillates for others. In 2003, they launched Herencia Mexicana as their first Distillery Brand. Originally the Distillery was NOM 1079, but changed to NOM 1580 after changing ownership in 2013. The Agaves used for production are grown in the red earth soils in an area that produces sweeter Agaves as a result of sufficient rains. Once harvested the Agaves are Cooked in a Traditional Stone/Brick Oven for 48 Hours. After cooking, Roller Mills are used for extraction. The extracted Juices are then placed in Stainless Tanks for Fermintation before being Twice distilled in Copper Pot Stills. Aroma: Cooked Agave that is Earthy start this off. A very prominent Lemon Citrus is also at the forefront. The Minerality of this is very easy to take in. Cinnamon and Black Pepper hold those notes down. A very Vegetal, Herbal, and Grassiness aroma are also present. Raw Agave and Butter can be detected. Taste: Sweet Agave and Lemon Citrus rush the Palate. Black Pepper and a Cinnamon Spiciness runs close behind. The Minerality and Earthiness flavors let you know this is an agricultural product! There is plenty of Vegetal and Herbal quality to this. Finish: A short run of Sweet Agave, Lemon, Black Pepper/Cinnamon and the Earthiness take this out. Salud! TMM 84 Herencia Mexicana Blanco
