Man I had high hopes for this. OVC is behind it and he’s making some great stuff but this new blanco is around $90 which I’m having trouble seeing that justification. The flavors and aromas to me are very green and almost sour. Not a bad tequila and I’ll spend more time with it but the price really hurts this one.
Nose: Minerality citrus vegetal raw agave anise a little floral Taste: sweet cooked agave, mild heat, a little pepper, dry Medium finish Overall, this is a good tequila. not overly complex but tasty and easy to drink.
LBalma0001, tasted on 7-20-25. Aroma: light cooked agave, hint of sourness, hint of mint, cooked agave sweetness becomes slightly sweeter as time goes by, hint of earthiness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, cooked agave sweetness is more pronounced on the palate, good sweet & sour balance. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave with a hint of earthiness persists.
The aroma was a vegetal bomb for me, distinct with green agave, grassiness, a touch of earthiness, tamed pepperiness and light ethyl that doesn’t bite the nose. On the palate the same vegetal chord is in full force but followed with cooked agave sweetness, contributing petrichor, (floral?)and a melody of citrusy fruits that blends harmoniously with the grassiness. I enjoyed the quick shift from vegetal to tangy sweet. The finish is light and lingering with cooked agave, waning citruses and freshness.
