“Nose: Caramel, lite pepper, agave and a certain crispness to it that I can’t quite nail down. Palette: Black pepper notes are surprisingly present for an anejo. Agave. Some of the floral notes from the blanco carry through with barrel notes, such as caramel forming back into brown sugar for the finish. In later sips the pepper resembles more of a cinnamon or nutmeg flavor. Butter is also there. Finish: Medium finish. The brown sugar and agave stay with you. Is that Crème brûlée? After spending more time with this, the alcohol come through on the palette and finish more than when first opened. Overall, this is a really easy sipper that’s surprising complex for the price. This is real good budget anejo at $40. ”

“Nose: Buttered agave and oak spice. Palette: The first sip is true to the nose - buttered agave, cinnamon, and black pepper. On the second sip, cinnamon takes place of the pepper, but the buttered agave still shines. There’s also some citrus in there. Finish: Medium-short. The buttered agave and citrus stay with you, but not terribly long. Overall this is not very complex, but it really excels at what it does. This is a lite, easy sipper and is really quite nice for $36. The more I drink it, the more I like it. This has become one of my favorite anejos. It’s also a great introduction to tequila.”

“Nose - agave, butterscotch, there’s an earthiness to it, black pepper. There a lot going on here. It’s hard to isolate it all. It’s like an ocean breese. Exceptional nose! Taste - AGAVE!, green olive, some of that Cimarron funk, black pepper. It’s kind of oily or buttery. Minerality and a very mild 1146 metallic taste. There’s a sweetness to it; almost citrus, but more like an almost ripe cantaloupe. Finish - medium length, black pepper, green olive and more agave. Seriously good! In the last quarter of 2021, I paid $100 and $80 for bottles. I believe $80 was a holiday sale, but it wasn’t advertised as on sale. Still, I say buy it if you see one. This is something all tequila lovers should experience.”

“Nose - agave, citrus, lite metallic, vegetal, and some earthiness. Taste - oily mouthfeel, agave, citrus, and mint. Finish - medium-short, agave, citrus, and a lite black pepper that replaces the mint. Some of that 1146 metallic nose comes back. Good stuff! I love a good citrus and mint combo in my blancos. That just takes it over the top. ”

“Nose - Agave, nutmeg, and a bit metallic. Taste - Agave, metallic, lots of black pepper, and baking spices. Finish - Medium length. More pepper and spices. If you like pepper and spices, this is for you. I love NOM 1146, but I’m not crazy about this one. I just can’t help but thinking I’d rather be drinking Cimarron. ”

“Nose - agave, vegetal, earthiness. Taste - the agave, vegetal, and earthiness stay true to the nose with a bit of a funkiness. Finish - short black pepper with a bit of a grass like flavor taking over what was vegetal, and earthiness. This was my first really good tequila, and it’s additive-free. I really like this stuff. It’s good straight or as a mixer. At $22 a liter, you can’t get a better tequila for the price. I feel like you’d have to spend twice as much to get a better tasting tequila. I can’t recommend this enough.”
