“Lot 62 is one of the more darker recent anejos. What does this mean? Most tequila fanatics will just tell you it was a first fill barrel or recently charred barrel and that is the only reason why it’s darker and that it’s not special. To me this fresh fill adds a layer of complexity to this already amazing tequila. You’re able to get more of Those barrel notes that give this a nice long lingering finish, but that doesn’t over power the agave and natural essence of tequila. This is one of my favorite anejos Fortaleza has released. If you see one pick it up.”

“Lot 150, was distilled with agave fibers for the first time. This makes an already amazing tequila even better! The fibers help bring out some earthiness and give this Blanco a nice buttery mouth feel. This was a special release with no markup. The beauty is all those retailer that gouge on Fortaleza had no idea this was a special release and in Ny I was able to find a few of these for a killer price. ”

“This was phenomenal, the barrel notes come through but don’t over power the agave. Great mouth feel and a great finish on this one. This is a buy and get a backup! Distribution in NY was pretty awful as most stores only got 1 bottle. If you see this I would definitely pick it up, I gave this a 90 on quick review but taking into account the value you’re getting at msrp I’ll bump this up to a 91”

“This just wasn’t doing it for me, the nose was flat. Some minerality and maybe some slight citrus fruits The palate: had a great buttery mouth feel and that was about it, wasn’t very agave forward the same notes from the nose came to the palate. I got mostly black pepper, minerality and some citrus on the back end. I normally get a nice pop of cooked agave on chavas stuff and it wasn’t here on this one The finish was flat and quick, didn’t really hang around to long. Overall: this is a good tequila but doesn’t compare to what they did with brix, and coming in at 170+ msrp makes it even worse. I would pick up lagrimas Repo over this. And I’m confident if I blinded this with other well made repos at half the price it wouldn’t do well. ”
