Lot 76 | Lote-77-A Had at a tasting in SanDiego with the great Sebastian Flores. The star of the evening was the Winter Blend but this was outstanding also. I wish I could find it without going to the distillery.

Lot 76 | This was actually Lot 77-A and 79-A. Both were great but the color difference was night and day and both had their own unique finish.

Lot 72 | mi tierra june 2025 revisited from a sample given to me by Matt Cavanaugh Agave Swappers its quite good. comparing it to lote 71A, i'd say this one pops a little more with whiskey and pepper and a drier finish

Lot 61 | Lot 61. Aroma is a little less than usual-possibly the vessel. Taste is exceptional with lots of good agave heat with some smooth barrel notes. The finish is amazing as usual. Thanks Tom!

Lot 75 | Another lovely Anejo from Fortaleza. On the nose a wave of caramel, butterscotch, honey, stone fruit, cooked agave, citrus, and vanilla. On the palate more caramel, honey, fruits, vanilla, brine, cooked agave, pepper, earthiness, a rustic barnyard note, and light olives. The finish was excellent.

Lot 75 | On the nose, lots of sweet barrel like butterscotch, vanilla, and spices, but the cooked agave and minerality is still there. Taste is sweet butterscotch, agave, vanilla, herbs, spices, and minerality in the finish.

Lot 73 | A little alcohol forward nice clean barrel notes vanilla butterscotch with agave and pepper

Lot 59 | Actually lote 73. Step it up TMM ;) Great as usual. Still the best aroma in tequila! Thanks, Baja Bettys 20th anniversary party!

Lot 68 | My first bottle of lote 68A had a leaky cork that fouled the bottle $95 down the drain (not the first time) but my second one was delicious. remember always tilt Fortaleza bottles down to see if they leak into your hand before buying

On the nose, I get agave, cinnamon, butterscotch and vanilla. The legs on this glass are insane. On the palate, I get cooked agave, oak, cinnamon, strong vanilla, clove and honey. The finish is long, peppery and spicy. not my favorite anejo of all time but it's a top 5 for me for sure.

Lot 72-A brought this one home from our trip to Fortaleza

Lot 69 | Lote 69. Thanks Dustin! All of the good stuff as usual. Here are some differences I am noticing: A little alcohol on the aroma. Could be the glass. A good bite of pepper in the mouth. Shorter finish than usual. Still GREAT!

Lot 42 | This 42A really lives to that hype!

Lot 68 | Truly amazing juice. I was lucky enough to see this at a bar and spend a little time with this. Great aromas and flavors coming from the cooked agave and the barrel aging. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, butterscotch, molasses, cinnamon, honey, and butter. Palate: the nose really carries through to the palate. Cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, oak, butterscotch, molasses, cinnamon, honey, and butter. An absolutely amazing anejo that still has the agave as the star of the show but brings great complexity of aromas and flavors through the barrel aging. Just waiting for the day where I can find this on the shelf.

Lot 70 | SideXside 70 vs 59 The Fortaleza Lote 70 is very good. In doing the sideXside to a lote 59 it has more tannins /oakiness but is still Agave forward. The vanilla and caramel flavors are also more evident in the L-70 has and a bit of sweetness coming through from cooked agave and the barrel with hints of the bourbon/whisky barrels used. All in all it is a very delightful combination of agave and barrel influence!

Lot 70 | This is still magical Tequila for me! The best aroma. Everything else is excellent. Lot 70 served in La Cava de Fortaleza. Gracias a Kobe!

Lot 66 | Lote 66. The aromas on this one bring me back to childhood memories of something sweet cooking in the kitchen. Homemade cookies was my first thought. While mom didn’t cook with agaves, the smells of butter, caramel and vanilla are right up front. I get hungry just smelling this one. The taste is just divine. It has sweet agave stretching for miles. The vanilla and caramel and butter are all there too. I’m not saying this tequila is a dessert but I could easily pass on dessert and have this instead. I haven’t had other Fort Anejo lotes as of this review but if they’re anything like this one, happy happy happy is all I can say.

Fortaleza is a known legend and additive free champion in the tequila space. It is not everyday that I had a chance to explore this wonderfully delightful tequila. I was very pleased and impressive that this pour lived up to the hype. Sweet caramel, agave, oak, vanilla and citrus. I savored every sip of this pour.

There are people who think Forteleza is just popular through rareness….some people think that because it is harder to find outside of secondary market that it isn’t possibly as good as the internet influencers claims….that it’s just a pop-star with little to no talent. But that’s all far from the truth. I’d love to find 10 of the most talented tequila connoisseurs who wouldn’t put Fortaleza (in nearly all expressions) in their own top 3 brands or top 3 expressions. It would be an absolutely amazing thing to see a real taste off in the tequila world. I’d bet the farm that Forteleza would take the top prize.

Nose: Butterscotch, Carmel, Oak, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Butter, Toffee Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied viscosity palate:butter, butterscotch, cinnamon, baking spice Finish: Coffee, Butterscotch, Oak Carmel, Butterscotch and Oak dominate the nose on this. The taste is of sweet and well-rounded. Things that come to mind are butterscotch, cooked agave, carmel, butter, and oak. The finish is incredibly light with the carmel and butterscotch stealing the show. This goes down so easy, and the finish does nothing but completely validate that. This is a very solid Añejo that sacrifices very little cooked agave for something aged like this. This is an Añejo to remember!
