“Cooked agave with some pepper and brine. The reason you’ll see a wide variety of flavors is because this is complex and many raters have a heightened skill set.(aroma/nose/finish) I appreciated the lack of alcohol burn in this high proof. I did pay a touch more in my small town so don’t be dissuaded if you have to spend a few dollars more. It’s worth it. ”

“11/22/23 bottle. Nice legs in the glass. Aroma is very mild. Some sweet agave and a touch of citrus. The mouthfeel is creamy. I expected oily because of the legs but you get more creamy and buttery. The flavor profile tends towards sweet agave. This finishes easy with minimal agave or pepper punch. Not very complex. It’s enjoyable and would work well in cocktails. It’s also a good general tequila for people to grow their appreciation with. I’ll keep this around and probably get another for demonstrating to new friends what tequila can taste like. Lastly, I picked this up for 25 bucks. Once again showing that price is not always an indicator of quality. Tip, this distillery makes some fine products. Look for Gran Dovejo , Tau, and the easy to find, Yeyo.”

“Had at a small restaurant in Alameda, CA. It was on a "special". Not really special. A cocktail mixer but weak as a stand alone product. Bubblegummy with some anise. Yeah.. that's an odd combo. I would recommend avoiding and make different choices such as Olmeco or Corazon in this neighborhood. I'd recommend avoiding this neighborhood if possible. ”

“Light aromas with hints of agave. A very smooth, almost watery, mouthfeel with very light agave and a bit of pepper. It finishes with a touch more pepper and a receding agave. Very good and a wonderful sipper but could be more complex. A bit more pepper would have finished this off in a more enjoyable way. ”

“Found this lonely bottle hidden at the end of a bar in the Grand Cayman Islands. Bartender had no idea what it was. He was used to selling Don Julio to tourists. A nice 10 dollar pour before a nice Italian dinner. DJ was 20 as a comparison. They did have the nicer cascahuin but he said he never poured it. ”

“In Cayman Islands. Bottle had lote 742-12. Could it be poor handwriting on the label? Same great product all around the world. Same poor “drinking “ habits that I found at previous bar where I had the blanco. Very nice people however.”

“Lote 196-B At Camana bay in the Grand Caymans. Many places have Fortaleza. The sad part is they are cheap tequila shooters on this island. I gave a mini lesson to the head bartender about sipping and enjoying. He promised to try. I’ll follow up. Let’s hope.”

“Nom 1604 Aroma jumps with vanilla with a very slight alcohol. The red flag of additives has already been raised. There are thick legs on the glass walls even leaving spots like rain mist. The flavor is almost exclusively vanilla. This is a sweet tequila. I don’t get agave at all. The finish is more vanilla sweetness and if you let this linger a touch of alcohol burn develops on the tongue. This has a lingering aftertaste like an artificially sweetened soda. This is very clear in the glass. Would I buy this again ? No. Would I recommend? Probably not but if you like vanilla sweetness this may be enjoyable for you. Those reviews from 3 and 4 years ago ,,,, just absurd. It does have a very cool “day of the dead “ cap. ”

“Long oily legs(glycerin?) Mild aroma with citrus(lime), light pepper, and a bit of vegetal. The taste adds some sweetness and cinnamon. The finish continues the sweetness and cinnamon. The finish lingers longer than it should and leaves a very odd aftertaste. This is not an enjoyable sipper. I get that it’s cheap but I won’t be buying a second bottle. ”

“The nose was mild and unassuming. The flavor was fantastic. Butterscotch with agave hints and a touch of citrus. The finish was more of the Butterscotch with some light pepper. The finish was of medium length and very smooth. This is a wonderful sipper and something to be shared. I highly recommend.”

“Had this at a nice Mexican restaurant. It was their house mixer for a margarita. Since I was waiting for a take out order, I tried the margarita and shot. The margarita was average but the tequila was awful. I go for the chips and salsa. The proprietors are wonderful people but I’ll stay away from the bar.”

“Lote-77-A Had at a tasting in SanDiego with the great Sebastian Flores. The star of the evening was the Winter Blend but this was outstanding also. I wish I could find it without going to the distillery.”

“Some positives to start. 1 liter—36 dollars—at a local chain grocery store—45% ABV The nose was agave, herbal, and some citrus(lime). There was a slight hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel was watery and soft. There was not an oily, clingy mouthfeel, which I appreciated in this tequila. The taste was light, sweeter, agave, with a hint of black pepper and some citrus. There was some minerality also. A medium to short finish which continues the agave, pepper and adds a hint of cinnamon. Not highly complex but that’s OK. For a “slightly” higher proof, there is not a “burn” which can manifest in some HP products. I’m rating this on the second day tasting. I feel that this is a good choice because of the price/quantity/quality ratio. Please note that the lower price can affect scores. There was 1 bottle left at the store and I may pick it up because …1. New tequila sippers would find this enjoyable during a relaxing evening. 2. This would be a fine addition to your mixer cabinet(better quality makes better cocktails). I think I may have talked myself into buying that last bottle(HaHa) Salud my friends. Auto spell check is a royal pain in the rear. Just an old man problem I suppose.”
