Fortaleza Blanco
“Actually lote 204. Not in AMM yet. Nice all around. So balanced and good. The aroma does have an extra citrus burst and the taste has a bit more black pepper than most batches. Lovely. ”

“Sorry to the lovers of this brand. We did this blind side by side another quality repo. All of us detected some bad tastes. Aroma is good. But the taste is not. Something burned on artificial on the entry. The finish follows with some bitterness from the taste. Not good. Is this Casamigos?”

“Aroma really good with sweet agave and light barrel notes The taste is completely different. Banana pudding meets bright citrus. Deep and pretty good. Finish is all citrusy sweet roasted pineapple cake. ”

“Lote 41 at the duke in SD. Aroma is typical Fortaleza plus a musty citrus Taste is sensational with a burst of pepper, sweet agave, and something fruity…is that pineapple?! Mouthfeel is on the viscous side. Nice. Finish is perfect Fortaleza. ”

“R2. Blind Aroma has light agave and vanilla, caramel almost towards butterscotch. Good. Taste is full bodied barrel tequila. More caramel and some black pepper. Again, good. Finish rounds out the aroma and taste and stays lingering. Again good. ”

“B1. Blind Aroma-musty and earthy. Some swampy funk. Taste-matches the aroma with darkness and definite funk but good. Light mint and floral. Then goes lightly bitter. Finish is good. Medium length. Balanced with taste and aroma. ”

“Fun to find this at a bar. Good overall. Soft and floral. Aroma is soft, floral and hint of tangerine. Taste is light with floral agave and earthy sweetness. Nice. Finish is fine. Stays fairly sweet and floral. ”
More info →“Super good high proof! Aroma is subtle and does not give away the surprise taste. Typical Cascahuin: fresh agave, minerals and cement. The taste is an explosion of spicy red hot candied agave! Wooo! Hot and fun. Some cinnamon layers in and then light minerality. I’ve got to find a bottle of this from 1123 soon! ”

Brahman Mex Blanco Artesanal
“Different flavor profile from a fairly mysterious distillery 1624. Aroma is the best part with some agave, sweet fruit, maybe overripe fruit as well. But there is some funk that I can’t describe. Hmmm. Good though. Taste is ok-good. Some sweet agave but also some bitterness fighting with a sweetness. Finish is ok. I want to visit 1624 and ask lots of questions. Revised one week later: up points in flavor and finish. Also noting greater viscosity. Better this second taste! Another go around: up a couple points again. This is better every time I taste it. Not very complex but good sweet roasted agave in every sip. ”

Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo
“Tasted at Baja Betty’s SD agave club. The aroma is hard to detect out of the tiny plastic cup. But overall pretty good. As it opened I got some strong butterscotch! Definite barrel, roasted nuts and some light alcohol. The taste of sensational! It’s really dark if dark, we’re a flavor. Molasses, brown sugar, barrel spice without being too sweet. There is some good caramelized agave. The finish is my favorite. Tasty and smooth whilst giving us some good Tequila heat. I would like to try this in a better vessel Also loses a couple points for value.”

ESPACIAL Tequila Blanco (1465)
“Fairly neutral aroma with light lactic funk. The taste explodes upon entry. Bursting vanilla with some hot pepper, undertone of vanilla cake batter as it finishes. The finish is thick and long but goes very sweet. Too sweet for me. This is not a Blanco. I’m suspicious about additives. Even for a joven you can’t get this much barrel notes. ”

Ocho Tequila Plata
“Unusual low rating with me for this Ocho. From aroma to finish it is not good. Fair at best. Aroma is heavy alcohol and bad funk. Taste and finish do not redeem the aroma. Does Ocho need volunteers to quality check. I raise my hand. ”

“The aroma is not bad. There’s an initial burst of flavor that’s tough to describe… Possibly fermented cake batter. A little suspicious. Not overly sweet or additive laden but possible. Finish is ok. ”

“Ok! I know people want to find lot 200, but don’t pass on 199! Great aroma but the taste is where this lote shines—extra buttery even creamy. The aroma is fantastic and reminds me of being near the hornos when they are unloaded. ”
