Nose - agave and minerality, banana, cinnamon & oak. Bright & spicy. Tasting bell pepper, agave & salinity. The agave hangs around on a really nice lingering finish. Love this repo very much.

This is bottle number 87 and 40% abv. The color is very light amber, almost blanco. This is reminiscent of El Pandillo's style. It has oily legs in the glass. I expected to get a hit of alcohol in the aroma, as I just opened the bottle. Nope... just that lovely cooked agave, followed by minerality, oak, grass and a hint of cinnamon. The flavor also shows the cooked agave, black pepper spiciness, caramel, oak minerality from the water used and a hint of butter. There is a viscous mouth feel that gives a wonderful, long finish.

Okay I really like stuff from 1579. To be honest, I usually go for high proofs and while I certainly like reposados they aren’t my first grab. This repo is so good that I can’t hold down my excitement. A good friend of mine bought this for me and now I need to find something equally as amazing to give him. The nose is so good that it is hard to start sipping it because I can’t stop smelling it. Oh it has the agave but it is also fruity and oaky with cinnamon, caramel and vanilla. If you have a friend that is new into this additive free artisanal tequila, give them a taste of this one. This tequila is so easy to sip and has wonder sweet agave with hints of oak and vanilla and caramel and butter. This will show a Casamigos lover just how good an AF tequila can taste without the additives. If you can’t tell, I absolutely love this one.

Nose: Very pleasant nose. I'm getting cinnamon, cooked agave, black pepper, carmel, oak and molasses delicately married together. Taste: Cooked Agave, Cinnamon, Oak, and orange peel Finish: I'm getting even more orange peel, carmel and cinnamon here almost exclusively on the finish. If I take longer breaths after sips, I also seem to pick up hints of oak and walnut. Another stunner from Volans in my book!

El Pandillo knows how to make a complex expression. This repo leans heavily into the distillery’s signature mineral forward style. In addition to minerality, this expression has fruity notes, vegetal & barrel influence such as vanilla, cinnamon, and caramel.

The aroma was light initially for me with light oak notes, minerality and agave but unfortunately I couldn’t distinguish many notes due to ethyl being prominent. The taste however; agave, minerality, caramel, vegetal, green olives brine, aromatic ethyl, familiar 1579 yeast, and dry whiskey. Finish is excellent; fresh mineral, earthy pepper that doesn’t linger long and creeps away with agave and floral tones. Agave stays on the tongue long after sipping and finish has died.

Nose: Cooked and raw agave on the nose with vanilla and herbal notes. Flavor: Cooked agave, caramel, vanilla and oak. Herbs and vegetable notes of basil, celery, spearmint and jasmine. Citrus comes through with lemon, grapefruit and lime. Mild hints of charcoal, mocha and honey

So good! Love that Volans uses all three water sources at El Pandillo.

Bottle: Bottle No. 349, 17/06/22, LV0003R40 Appearance: Faint straw Nose: Cooked and raw agave, minerality, oak, baking spice, clove, smoke, vegetal, asparagus, grass, citrus, lemon, wet earth, brine/salinity, cinnamon, black pepper, barrel spice, alcohol, and cedar wood…very earthy and smoky Palate: Cooked and raw agave, smoke, barrel spice, clove, smoke, charcoal, licorice, molasses, raisin, butter, brine/salinity, vegetal, parsley, celery, chocolate, wet earth, black and white pepper, and cut grass…pronounced earthiness and vegetal notes Finish: Bitter almond, chocolate, mesquite, charcoal, and licorice…short to medium length with a thin to medium viscosity Overall: Initially, I was underwhelmed with this pour. However, it really began to open up about midway through the bottle. Then, it also surprisingly took on a mezcal-like profile that I enjoyed quite a bit…except for the finish, which was strangely bitter and brought the score down. I didn’t get a lot of the sweeter notes that other people appreciated, but I enjoyed the change of pace nonetheless.

This is as close to perfect as you’re going to find….herbal, vegetal, touch of sweetness, agave never fades. The best part is the finish, this agave nectar sweetness comes out of nowhere and sticks around in the back of my tongue. This is a true sipper and I don’t recommend using this for mixing or adding ice, it’s delicate and can confidently stand on its own. Extremely well done!

On the nose, very sweet agave. Fruity, vanilla and a bit spicy. On the palate, this is very fruity and sweet. Surprisingly so, but not cloying by any means. Clearly a good natural sweetness. Very much the logical next step from the delicious blanco. Very rounded agave, a bare hint of barrel spice and vanilla. Overall an amazing repo. Another stunner from 1579, this is dangerously easy to drink.

Nose: Agave, Sweet Citrus. Palate is rich and sweet. Some sort of fruit met with baking spices and a great spices finish. I’m my opinion it needs a few minutes to open up. For the price point I can name 10+ better options but if I come across it and I’m out I will buy for sure.

It’s so good! The first time I tried this I said that I tasted notes of banana nut bread. It was great hearing Lucas Assis use those notes in one of his tastings to help confirm I’m not crazy! Incredible nose, sweet cinnamon and honey, taste of caramel, real vanilla, oak…and banana nut bread! When I host tasting events and attendees say they drink Casamigos I’ll have them try that vs this stuff side by side…I have yet to have anyone go back!

Good has a nuttiness like light salted cashew which is different but good. Medium burn in the middle but phases out towards the end.

Initial impressions: This reposado is more I line with the blanco and extra añejo, specifically the extra añejo, as it smells and tastes like a younger version of it. The single barrel reposado that I had, barrel 3, had a rich leather note that was dramatic - it made for a unique tequila, but didn't feel like it was a Volans product, per se. Single barrel products usually have great nuances and I'm curious about what the other ones were like. This reposado has some similarities to the single barrel, but with more refined characteristics, which are likely from the blending. The extra añejo remains my favorite Volans expression, but things may change.

Nose: Agave, Orange Zest, Oak, Brininess, Clove, and Cardamon Flavor: Cooked agave, Ripe Stone Fruit, Toasted Nuts, and has a buttery mouth feel Finish: Nice medium finish that starts with sweet agave and ends with Black Pepper

Pretty similar to the Single Barrel edition, except this has a bit more salinity and nuttiness. Although those characteristics come at the expense of some of the classic El Pandillo mineral notes, both are pretty great choices for Reposados.

Nose: Cider, light colored tree fruit, nutmeg and a touch of vanilla. Light barrel treatment, yet pleasant barrel spices present: cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Caramel green apple with a hint of toffee. An earthy note and a light kiss of citrus. Flavor: Crisp fruit notes. Caramelized agave richness melded with filbert nuttiness. Warm spices and white pepper. An almond undercurrent. Buttery, slightly salty flavor and texture. Clean lines. Nice balance. Finish: An almond paste, agave brûlée peppered finale.

Nose of minerals, agave, olive and very light barrel notes with sweet, caramel taste that goes down very nicely. Different than their single barrel repo, which smells more of butterscotch with a mineral finish. Something for everyone between the 2 choices!

I didn’t get much beyond agave in the aroma. I’m getting a bitterness in the finish that reminds me of grapefruit. I may change my rating upon future tastings of it.
