“Bottle: AMM’s First Blind Tasting of 2026, Bottle #8 Appearance: Clear Nose: Light cooked agave, citrus, lemon, flowers, baby powder, and celery…I could not get this to open up, regardless of the amount of time given Palate: Light cooked agave, citrus, cinnamon, alcohol, and jalapeño…very light flavors with a touch of heat that gives it a modest bit of personality that would make it more than suitable for cocktails Finish: Black pepper, generic citrus, and alcohol…long and warm with a thick and oily mouthfeel, but considerably underwhelming My blind score: 75 Panelist average blind score: 85.375 Difference: -10.375 Overall: Pending… ”

“Bottle: AMM’s First Blind Tasting of 2026, Bottle #7 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked agave, citrus, lemon, tropical fruit, pineapple, coconut, vanilla, herbal, lemongrass, anise, minerality, wet cement, wood shavings, pine cone, mineral oil, and slight acetone…really nice for the most part, but just a tiny bit off Palate: Cooked agave, black pepper, dry earth, brine/salinity, olive, black tea, lemon, minerality, and alcohol…fairly constrained in terms of complexity compared to the nose, and quite a bit less balanced (leaning towards heat) Finish: Black pepper, black tea, lemon, and alcohol…long and tongue-numbing with an oily viscosity My blind score: 82 Panelist average blind score: 84.125 Difference: -2.125 Overall: In the past, I’ve found some blancos lightly aged in wine barrels to pick up more acidity/tannins than ”

“Bottle: AMM’s First Blind Tasting of 2026, Bottle #6 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked agave, citrus, orange, herbal, spearmint, menthol, vanilla, alcohol, minerality, butter, dry earth, and white pepper…really needed some time to open up Palate: Cooked agave, vegetal, parsley, herbal, spearmint, menthol, anise, citrus, ruby red grapefruit, lemon, lime, vanilla, minerality, butter black and white pepper, and dry earth…pretty closely matches the nose Finish: Alcohol, black and white pepper, herbal, and vanilla…long with a thick mouthfeel, but doesn’t seem like an adequate follow up to the nose or palate My blind score: 85 Panelist average blind score: 84.75 Difference: +0.25 Overall: Despite my middle of the road score, I liked this one quite a bit. Some tequilas are just easy to drink and enjoy, without demanding too much attention…it’s kind of like having an affection for heavy metal music overall, but needing a relaxing stint of classical piano while enjoying a a meal at a nice restaurant. It was consistent across the nose and palate, but with enough evolution to keep it interesting. It didn’t overwhelm in terms of intensity or profile, which would make this great for introductory pours or tastings. Sometimes I forget that the smoky/funky/dry martini/blue cheese bombs for which I’m always on the prowl aren’t always received with my same degree of enthusiasm. If it wasn’t for the flat-ish finish, this would have ranked right up there with the traditional heavy hitters in my 87-89 score space. This is definitely a tequila (and brand) to keep an eye on. ”
