Fruity with light barrel notes while maintaining the agave influence. This one may not be for everyone but definitely a solid choice

Another solid offering by Cazcanes. Pretty good amount of wine barrel influence here but still well balanced. The light aging gives it a nice touch of oak, with hints of chocolate, red fruit, citrus and some minerality. A really good Rosa if you are into them.

Had at a tasting event Quick notes: You get Cabernet immediately on the nose along with cooked agave Lots of barrel influence and barrel spice. And a spicy finish that likens to the high ABV. Very good but need to be in the right mood for a Rosa.

tmm mystery blinds jan 2025 rosas nose: nice, brown sugar cinnamon fruit with a little funk/malolactic palate: whiskey oak barrel spices dry sweet cognac? finish: Nice warm long lingers with a bit of fizz/heat at the end other: darkest of the 10 samples. I noted this is probably high abv. empty glass smells like cinnamon pear apple pie

Rated Blind but Previously reviewed: This special release has been aged for 82 days in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon French Oak casks and presented at 100 proof / 50% ABV. It has a nice copper color and a pronounced nose. The most notable scent I get is a combination of cereal, almonds, and yeast. It reminds me of bread dough. The other scents are red cherries, dark fruits, cooked agave, raw honey, citrus zest, light floral scents, and some herbal notes too. There’s just a hint of pepper and wood tannins (barrel spices). There’s a great mouthfeel and the proof helps to deliver a nice intensity of flavors. I get just a hint of the cereal on the palate but mostly I taste a combination of cooked agave and dark ripe stone fruits. The pepper hits the mid-palate along with some oregano and herbs. There’s some dry tannins coming from the barrels and some subdued sweetness from the agave and barrel. The flavors bleed into the finish which is dry and peppery. There’s a bit of alcohol on the finish but overall it’s very flavorful and enjoyable.

Darkest of the samples, perhaps new or newly charred barrels? Some medicinal notes on the nose. More viscous than the other samples this has heavy but not overdone barrel spice plus an ethanol kick that makes the tongue buzz in a way that speaks to higher ABV. This higher ABV also leads to long lasting finish. I like it.

Great complex rosa reposado. The combination of the high proof and the cab barrels produce some amazing complex aromas and flavors. Nose: cooked agave, cinnamon, plum, berries, oak, citrus, baking spice and chocolate. Palate: cooked agave, cinnamon, plum, berries, oak, baking spice, chocolate and butter on the finish. Still some great agave flavor and aromas coming from the high proof plus some barrel complexity from the cab barrels. A very enjoyable sipper.

Nose: Agave, Fruit, Plum, Raisin, Rose, Vanilla, Cinnamon Mouthfeel: light to light-medium bodied Palate: Vanilla, Cream, Rose, Apricot, Finish: Agave, Vanilla, Cherry, Plum, Cinnamon I've had some Rosa tequilas before but this one really takes the cake for me. I get other flavors and the red wine barrels don't obscure some of the other flavor profiles sign. Not much oak on the nose either. Very unique and palatable option for those dipping their toes into Rosa tequila spirits.

Bottle: Batch No. RR92401 Appearance: Amber rose gold Nose: Cooked agave, dried and fresh fruit, raisin, berries, grapes, vanilla, honey, flowers, rose petals, cinnamon, allspice, citrus, orange peel, dark chocolate, minerality, oak, butter, yeast/dough, and barrel spice…phenomenal nose Palate: Cooked agave, fruit, berries, strawberry, peach, grapes, citrus, blood orange, lime, white pepper, leather, honey, molasses, vanilla, alcohol, black tea, bergamot, baking spice, cinnamon, and black pepper…fruity, oaky, and delicious Finish: Rainier cherries, white pepper, alcohol, flowers, and almond…long, warming, and drying with a medium viscosity Overall: For me, when it comes to Rosas, reposados have really hit the sweet spot of barrel influence on agave. For this one, I really love how the underlying Cazcanes profile is still discernible, but the wine barrel influence feels like a natural progression of the story. It’s like when a band does a really solid job covering a classic song…no one ever mistakes it for the original, but when it’s done well, it is perfectly enjoyable in its own right.

When I re-rated this in a blind tasting, I scored it lower than what I left on my profile. I could tell it was higher proof. I tasted remnants of mint and pine that I generally love, but was still not incredibly fond of this expression.

Nose: agave cooked / grapes -wine / pear / citrus / lemongrass/ nutmeg/ chocolate/ maple/ Taste: agave cooked / earth / pepper / grapes/plum / lime / orange peel / lemongrass / bell pepper/ tea / baking spice / chocolate/ maple / Finish: medium viscosity mouthfeel- an interesting palate coating texture that has a nice semi-oily coating feel / lingering light pepper and wine flavor notes / a bright crisp citrus, agave, and pepper trio stay throughout the experience. There’s a slight twinge of alcohol. This rosa reposado is refreshing and enjoyable. I feel like I would prefer the rosa blanco better as the wine/grape taste note doesn’t hit my palate right well….admittedly I think this tastes good and provides a good experience for those who enjoy wine, but my palate prefers notes other than wine.

So far I haven’t been a big Rosa fan. This is really good. Has agave as you would hope but the barrel impart a nice flavor on this repo. The tase does carry the barrel with cinnamon and vanilla and oak but the agave is there. This was tasted at a festival but I do have a bottle coming.

Batch RR92401 aged 82 days. Rose petals and cherries on the nose. Agave, orange, dark cherries, molasses, honey. Nice legs and a long tingly finish that’s also dry. The wine barrel makes its presence known. I like this one even better than the blanco!

Lote RR 92301 SiB 2023 Aromas: Spice, citrus, nuttiness. Dried fruits: apricot, pineapple and golden raisins. Gently floral. A tease of oregano. A resonating depth of aromas marry with the agave. An allspice, cinnamon, tart citrus note gives my nose a little pucker. A somewhat playful nose. Flavor: Vivacious barrel spices and freshly ground black pepper. Peach and almond undertones. Palate filling body and warmth. Vanilla creaminess and pleasing texture blanket the agave. Medium tannins, but a somewhat dry profile as it finishes. A great follow through project from the SiB Rosa Blanco. 2024 Lote Full Production Run RR92401 Nose: Pre Swirl: Mild. Minerals. Post Swirl: Cherries, berries, warm fruit notes. Vanilla. Ethanol is well integrated - low impact. Cinnamon, cloves, allspice and nutmeg. Dried citron and fresh citrus. Flavor: Warm up sip brings some heat to the palate, but rapidly abates. Solid body and great viscous mouth feel. A dash of salinity. Sweetness with a dry edge. A grind or two of fresh black pepper. A bounty of fruitiness, yet not overly sweet. The wine cask contributes some highlights without being overbearing. Finish: A long memorable, balanced finish. TMM rating 89+

Tasted at TAPs tasting room Notes of cooked agave, dried fruits, white pepper, subtle baking spices, clove, plum, fig, & pitted fruits. Has a puckery/astringent sensation. Aged for 3 months and 15 days. Would like to taste the wine as well/ know more details about the barrel.

Once again, a product with quality that surprises from Cazcanes. The 50% abv contributes to a long sweet cooked agave finish, which is my favorite part of this tequila. The flavor of agave is retained and somehow enhanced through the use of the wine barrels. It doesn't have a complex aroma, though. But once this gets into your mouth it's extremely pleasant.

Pours the color of a light Madeira wine. Very aromatic. Drinks like the cross between a dry cognac and mild scotch with a buttery mouthfeel and long finish. Very different for a tequila and very good.

At La Pina on 1/15/2026. Interesting! Nutty, agave, almond, a bit of boozy heat leads to a rough finish. Nice smell. Too much boozy heat

Aroma is a bit floral with cooked agave and olive brine. The flavor is my least favorite aspect as black pepper hits hard, followed by notes of cinnamon and cooked agave. Finish is long and the heat slowly dissipates.
