Big fan of the Cosecha releases. This release is so different. I feel like the flavors pop in the finish and linger in the palate vs. 2018 & 2013 where the flavors popped in the front. I’m not surprised that I don’t love it! It’s a bit pricey but for me I would rather spend a little more for an exceptional blanco. Aromas: lemongrass, rosemary, dill, brine, green olives, black pepper Flavor: savory notes, tobacco, black pepper undertones, (not as much brine as I picked up in the aromas) More saline and savory on the palate, with a lot of cooked agave that lingers into the finish. It also coats the mouth with a viscous oiliness. Finish: long finish with black pepper, tobacco, savory notes, lingering green olive, cooked agave, and creamy tropical fruit notes.
Bottle: HBE 0626, 33FSBTA25 Appearance: Clear Initial thoughts… Nose: Cooked agave, citrus, flowers Palate: Orchard fruits, baking spice, minerality Finish: Black pepper, vegetal, brine/salinity Final review pending…
Fuenteseca cosecha 2020 Sample from Matt Cavanaugh Agave Swappers Nose: citrus/orange mint hay minerality mild funk (toned down from 2018) even some grass and brine! It keeps evolving! Palate: agave citrus cinnamon pepper This is my favorite of the fuenteseca expressions
Loving this! I think it’s my favorite of the three Cosechas. I only had a taste at Mexico in a Bottle, so I’ll eagerly await a full glass to review properly. But this is one I’ll happily splurge for a bottle.
Aroma: Cooked agave, pepper, minerality, cinnamon, floral, and a hint of citrus. Flavor: Sweet cooked agave, cinnamon, minerality, butter, citrus, honey, and a subtle peppery note. This blanco is incredibly complex and gets even better with each sip. They absolutely crushed it with this bottle!
Aroma - I was expecting a lot of agave but this is next level. Cooked agave, asparagus, bell pepper, crushed red pepper, minerality, sweet cooked agave, cinnamon, nutmeg, floral, with a hint of orange zest. I don’t know how so much is packed into the aroma but this is so complex. Flavor - sweet cooked agave, cinnamon, minerality, asparagus, orange zest, pop of lemon, honey, crushed red pepper, it’s such a good combination of savory and sweet. Each sip give me more cooked agave. The texture is so viscous and thick. At 45.7% you get a nice warmth but there’s very little burn. This bottle is retailing for $110 and even though it’s incredible that is one of the most expensive blancos on the market and for that it’s not getting the highest marks if we were to just rate on merit if the liquid. Nevertheless this is an exceptional blanco and everything you look for in a well crafted tequila.
I loved the 2013 version (super heavy cinnamon), and the 2018 version (some cinnamon with black pepper), but this 2020 is the best of them all. I'm blown away. This is a super complex special treat that contains absolutely everything I love about a tequila agave spirit. Cinnamon, earth, black pepper, cooked agave, gentle funky lactic roundness, licorice, grass, olive, brine, all wrapped up in a long happy finish. It's got a thick mouthfeel that so elegantly and respectfully sits on your tongue. I don't know what kind of deal with the devil was struck by Enrique Fonseca to make this, or maybe he's an alien and he is tapping into powers we don't yet comprehend, but it's absolutely incredible. One of the best ever.
This 2020 is seriously delicious. The 2013 is one of the GOATs, 2018 was incredible, and I think I’d put the 2020 just above 2018, but this isn’t meant to be compared to others, it’s meant to be celebrated for what it is on its own and on its own, it’s an amazing blanco. Grab some of these bottles and enjoy.
Glass: Glencairn Nose: Lime, minerality, pepper, earth, olive, hay, grass, salt Palate: Fruity, herbal, pepper, limestone Finish: Herbal, minerality, citrus, brine, faint cinnamon In done ways, this release echoes the 2018 edition, but it’s evolved and made it's own way with Valley agaves this time. The lactic note has toned down significantly, and cinnamon takes a step back. In contrast, the minerality is a bit more pronounced, as is the citrus. The herbal notes remain steady, but overall, this version leans more into those crisp mineral and citrus touches.
Nose: baking spice, orange, citrus, some ethanol Palette: nice balanced agave with good minerality and open air fermentation notes. Drinks lighter than its proof. Finish: long with good carry that maintains the flavors on the palette. Some pepper and caramelized agave. Overall: incredible pour that really highlights the agave flavors.
This a very good blanco. Sweetness from the cooked agave throughout. The finish is amazing! it's a little spendy but definitely worth it for special occasions! I'm leaving the value score at 5/10 because it's just the normal price dor an exceptional tequila. 91/100

Aroma: 22/25 A thick and pungent nose with obvious depth and complexity. Starts off very herbal with hints of asparagus and green bell pepper. A savory and salty characteristic then starts to emerge. True agave elements really start to punch out the more it has had time to open up. A bit too savory for my palate which knocked it down. Palate: 29/30 Luscious and thick mouth feel. Silky, syrupy texture. Juicy Lemon at the front palate. Charred agave, savory and salt comes through in the mid. Green Herbaceous notes with a slight earthy hay at the end. Finish: 24/25 The finish goes on for days. I can still taste the pour several minutes after taking a sip. Warming on the sides of my tongue, and even seems to heat up my body as well. I find myself feeling hotter and hotter the more I sip. Value: 7/10 $99 in San Francisco. Expensive for a blanco, but not crazy given that it is rested for 5 years in stainless steel before bottling. Quality stands up to the Price tag
