“Nice balanced blend of agave and fruit. Slight bitter finish dissipates after a bit of aeration. Enjoyed this one.”

Lost Lore Westbound Reposado
“Much heavier than the other beer barrel expressions Lost Lore has put out. The stout influence is strong in the best possible way with a finish that lasts foreeeeever. Kudos for doing something very different.”

Carreta de Oro Añejo
“Score is for the old frosted round bottle. Did not see a lot number, so not sure what year it’s from. But it’s a really nice añejo; glad I picked it up.”
More info →“Not the most complex, but a nice, easy drinking Añejo with that slight 1146 funk. Very bottle-servicey tall elegant bottle raised the price a ton. It used to be obscene, but has recently come down to about half off at many places in Los Angeles. Did they lose their distributor? Is the brand going belly-up? At this new price point, it’s a must try.”

Tequila Alquimia Extra Añejo XIV
“Just amazing how after 14 years, the agave still shines. Love this one.”

Mayorazgo Reposado
“A 35 that drinks like a 60. As gross as everyone says it is.”

Villa Lobos Extra Añejo
“Tasted in a flight with all of their core lineup and this was by far the most complex and enjoyable. Gonna have to seek out a bottle.”
More info →“Was hesitant to purchase the ninth(?) blanco expression from Lost Lore, but I’m really glad I did. Such a beautiful tequila.”

Conejo Salvaje Reposado
“A nice, easy drinking reposado, but similar to other 1480s insomuch as it leans heavily towards the sweet side. While most there are organic and additive-free, they must be doing something to enhance the sweetness (perhaps treating the barrels with agave syrup?) To be clear, I don’t mind it, as it’s not that artificial, cloying sensation, but the sweetness is indeed dominant.”
More info →“Finishing in sherry casks seems very en vogue these days, so I had to revisit this. This one isn’t just finished in the sherry casks, but exclusively aged in them. And man, do they impart a ton of deep, rich flavors. The agave is pushed to the background a bit, but it’s certainly still there. Really just a wonderful añejo and now I’ll be picking up a backup bottle for sure.”

Corzo Silver Tequila
“Artificial af. Off-putting finish lingers for way too long. Never again.”

Tequila G4 Blanco Madera (Lot 03)
“The creamiest blanco. Just superb.”

Humano Tequila Añejo
“Much better than the repo, but still has that artificial sweetness to it. Definitely feels manipulated, but much less so than the awful reposado.”

Humano Tequila Reposado
“Humano is one of AMM’s “premium brand partners,” which, to my understanding, was a wink-wink certified additive free list. But there’s just no way for this one. The repo is straight up fake vanilla and caramel. There’s certainly worse offenders, but I really feel misled by this one. Glad I only bought the 375ml.”
