A little up there in price, but a decent anejo for those who’d prefer a more oak driven profile.

NOM 1480 | Casa Azul Orgánico Añejo — NOM 1480 Nose: Fairly subdued. Not a lot coming from the glass beyond some alcohol presence and a faint bourbon/barrel character. Taste & Texture: Sweetness leads with cinnamon and pepper. Straightforward and enjoyable, with the spice providing considerably more character than the nose. Finish: Warming with barrel tannins adding some drying structure. A lingering herbal character develops toward the end. Overall: A solid, enjoyable añejo, but fairly simple overall. The palate provides pleasant sweetness, cinnamon and pepper, while the finish adds some herbal character and drying tannins. The biggest limitation for me is the nose, which never really opens up or offers much complexity. There’s nothing particularly wrong here—it simply doesn’t provide the depth or memorable character I now look for in bottles scoring in the upper 80s and 90s.

NOM 1646 | Certainly better than the previous NOM version, but nothing interesting. Just an easy-sipping standard añejo. A bit overpriced.

Aromas of butter, honey, caramel, roasted agave, grass, lime, and jasmine. Flavors of honey, butter, roasted agave, toasted oak, black pepper, and mineral brine. Smooth fantastic finish with a mild lingering burn. Over priced compared to other anejos with a better flavor profile.

Again, not much of Anejo fan. This one however is a single estate that is well done with a lot of Agave up front. Looses value on the price point.

Smooth, slightly sweet, weak finish.

Delicious true agave flavor with a hint of vanilla and sweetness without any additives. Very smooth and leathery.

  • 65 Rating

Not confirmed as additive free. Likely has some sweetner and vanilla flavoring given its very sweet and vanilla taste profile. Not an agave-forward taste as with non-additive tequila.

Outstanding añejo. Soft wood notes and a subtle, sweet smokiness
