Rey Del Mundo Reposado is a sweet and spicy treat. It’s made with agaves that they cook using stone brick ovens and autoclaves (low pressure). They then use both batches of cooked agaves to make their tequila. Their Repo is aged for 6 months in French oak & American oak barrels. They then blend the 50/50 mix of the FO & AO repos to create their final product. 80 proof - 40% ABV. - On the nose, I initially get the sweet smell of the cooked agave and then the barrel spices kick in. The FO lends a softer sweetness while the AO gives it a peppery quality. I detect some aromas from red fruit and I’m reminded of sweet potato casserole with the earthy cooked sweet potatoes and the brown sugar pecan topping. The melted butter and cinnamon are present. Some cinnamon and barrels spice are present too. This repo has an aromatic nose with a warming sensation. - There’s a pleasant density to the agave sweetness and some nice depth to the spiciness. The earthy quality from the nose is denser and the spices are more peppery. I enjoy the cohesiveness of the nose and flavors. The 50/50 blend of the FO & AO aging works well. There are some dark caramel and roasted jalapeño notes. There are some underlying cooked stone fruits that I typically get from aged highland tequilas. - This is a flavorful and cohesive Reposado.

Nose: Initial caramel aromas, followed up with chocolate and malted milk, a yeasty note and fresh thyme and oregano. Flavor: Strong chocolate notes persist, with vanilla, roasted hazelnuts and medium pepper heat. Nice viscosity. Finish: A touch on the sweet side but a pleasing offering.

I really enjoy the barrel notes of this tequila. It’s my go-to tequila. Same as the blanco - medium pepper finish.

40%, lote 210619, tasted on 8-9-24. Color: yellow. Aroma: hint of vanilla, light wood note, hint of acidity, light citrus, light fruitiness, after 20 minutes in the glass I smell a hint of agave fiber, hint of cherry and the wood note becomes more noticeable. Hint of earthiness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, cherry & wood note is quite intense on the palate, slightly sour, I feel sweetness from the barrel influence, but ends slight astringent. Finish is medium to medium long, light vanilla ice cream with wood note, light acidity, hint of raw agave, bourbon notes, ends a tad dry.

Definitely tasted the American Oak but also got some of a French oak at the end. Very unique

This tequila boasts a bold, smoky profile that commands attention from the first sip. However, the overwhelming presence of smoke can overpower the delicate flavors, resulting in a biting aftertaste. Despite its hype, this tequila falls short of expectations, offering little value for its high price tag.

Nose was musty, earthy, taste sees wood, tannins yet brightness & pretty pleasant finish.

On the nose, it smells like marzipan and vanilla. It is a little sweet, smelling, but dry on the palate. Nice finish!

Loved the mixture of both barrels. Loved the color. Tasted more of the American barrel but a enjoyable finish. Definitely recommend and will grab again.
