“Fortaleza Añejo Lote 42 is a masterpiece! I've been lucky enough to try it on four occasions. The first time, I knew right away something special was happening and I was left blown away, telling all my friends! The second time I was prepared to really pay attention and it's then when I appreciated how great this Lote is. The third and fourth occasions confirmed in my mind. The nose is complex and calls to attention something special is afoot. The taste is sublime, complex, utterly enjoyable, and extremely delicious. There are notes of spice, chocolate, subtle agave, strawberry and cinnamon. The finish has zero burn, totally smooth with a finish taste similar to Louis XIII, probably barrel related. No additives, only the skill of the distillery process. The buzz is high energy, happy, absolutely zero hangover whatsoever. This is a once in a lifetime blend, it just came together perfectly. When you're experiencing this, you'll always remember the moment, what's happening around you, who's with you. It's the best tequila ever made. The only knock for concern is the cork. Guillermo should really consider moving to a polymer-based synthetic cork. The natural cork Fortaleza uses is romantic, nostalgic, but unfortunately can introduce TCA which if present (although rare) can diminish the overall taste experience by a staggering 50%! Fortaleza needs to realize they are making bottles that are probably going to be worth $100,000.00 or more within 15-20 years and the possible issue of TCA needs to be considered now, and "can be" mitigated. If you find a Lote 42, don't pass up the opportunity to try it. You only live once. ”
