This blanco tequila presents a subtle aroma with a light agave flavor. Herbal and minty notes contribute to its profile, and the sweetness is well-balanced, making it an easy-to-drink choice

NOM 1479 from a Craigslist ad once upon a time. A back door mail order deal at a time when stuff like that was more closeted. Bottles are similar to the current 1414 but are all 35% ABV 700ml and no export stamps. Citrus, agave and some ethanol on the nose. In the mouth this white pepper, roast agave and a nice light viscosity. The tongue tingling spice belies the 35%. This has held up well.

The aroma is light. I get notes of raw agave and an earthiness (possibly clay). It's definitely vegetal on the nose which makes me think it's going to be more of a traditional Blanco. The flavor isn't as spicy as I was expecting but there is a definite hint of pepper. I also get the raw agave but it has a strong minty note. The finish is strong and lingers nicely for a while.

This has a spicy, dry finish. Give it some time to open up. It has pleasing aromas of black pepper, cinnamon and slight mint. It has a pleasing warm finish that feels oily in your mouth. This is a solid blanco with character.

Review #301 - Don Weber Tequila Blanco

Another day, another tequila from NOM 1414. If there was ever a distillery that I make a point out of trying a new offering...it's this one.
