Nice caramel on the nose. A touch of cinnamon. Agave. Great agave n the palate. Spicy, cinnamon. Nice tequila

Nose is slightly medicinal when first poured but opens up after several minutes in that Chisolm Trail high-proof jarrito, which is my preferred glassware for 45% ABV and above. All the barrels contribute to a melange of aromas carried by the 48% ethanol. Dark pittted fruit, cherry compote or cherries jubilee come to mind. In the mouth this has a very forward spice from the yeast and the high ABV, a medium mouthfeel and some nice flavors from the assorted barrels along with some roast agave, though it is in danger of being overwhelmed by the resting in multiple vessels. Nice lip buzz on the finish rounds out this all too rare high proof Reposado. High proof Blanco dominate releases but Reposado is trying to catch up.

Sampled at Sabor y Cultura Chicago 2026. High proof deliciousness! Well worth seeking out.

Nice. Agave. Warm, but not hot. So lovely. Fairly smooth.

At La Pina. Nice perfumy agave smell. Lovely agave taste with the wine notes hinting there for balance. Into a nice clean finish with just enough heat that is warm but not hot.

Lost Lore Poca Madre is the kind of tequila that reminds me why I love sharing agave with others. The nose is full of cooked agave, citrus, cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of caramel. On the palate, the higher proof adds beautiful texture while allowing the agave to remain the star, supported by baking spices, light oak, and a clean mineral finish. Balanced, expressive, and incredibly well crafted. This is a bottle that starts conversations and proves that great tequila is about honoring the agave, not covering it up.

It earns solid credit for its long finish, but I took a few points off for the aroma and non-complex flavor, and more importantly for the price and limited availability. I think the cost will ultimately have the biggest impact on its ratings. That said, it’s an inspiring charity project, and I’m genuinely proud of what the ladies have created and the cause they’re supporting
