Nose: Bright and layered. Agave comes through cleanly alongside petrichor and pine - earthy but crisp. There’s citrus oil in the background, balanced with alcohol and a touch of anise. You can pick out the classic 1414 profile, but with this one it’s a bit more resinous and sharp than usual. Palate & Mouthfeel: Full bodied and mouth coating without being heavy. Sweet agave up front, followed by orange zest, black pepper, and a cooling touch of mint. A mid palate flash of light grape adds something unexpected, almost like a sweet tart. Pineapple and anise round it out, adding tropical brightness and subtle spice. Finish: Anise and black pepper linger with a steady hum. Sweet agave stays on the tongue and coats the back of the palate in a way that feels satisfying and clean. Final Thoughts: This one caught me off guard - in a good way. The nose hits with familiar 1414 nuances, but the palate veers in a different direction with more citrus, fruit, and brightness than I usually associate with their profile. It’s not a bargain bottle, but the quality is there. I’d call it a solid secondary pick in its price tier - or an easy first if the cost dropped just a bit.
