Nose: The agave steps forward first, clean and direct, with a mineral edge that gives it some tension. A flash of alcohol lifts the profile, but it settles quickly into savory olive and a cool mint note that keeps the whole thing feeling sharp. Palate & Mouthfeel: It lands with clear agave and a raw vegetal push, backed by black pepper and a firm, gripping texture that leans a bit astringent. Anise drifts in, giving a slight herbal lift, while mint and a squeeze of citrus brighten the edges. The minerality carries through, grounding the more aromatic notes and keeping the profile focused. Finish: Agave and mint linger in a clean, steady line, with a faint trace of anise fading out at the end. Final Thoughts: A strong value blanco with plenty of character. The only knock is the dryness it leaves behind, but outside of that, it’s an easy tequila to enjoy - straightforward, flavorful, and made with a confident hand.
The nose opens with a dry cedar tone layered over noticeable ethyl and a subtle yeasty character. On the palate, petrichor anchors the profile, while cooked agave's raisin-like sweetness emerges steadily. Supporting notes of light caramel, vanilla, cedar intertwine with a bread tone, a mild black pepper bite, soft floral and fruity undertones. A light and tasty buttery quality weaves through adding softness. The finish reveals a return of cooked agave, joined by cooling mint, lingering yeast, and faint floral persistence. A late, barely-there note of dill creeps in, adding a final, unexpected twist.
The aroma opens with a vibrant cooked agave, a mineral freshness, and a touch of mint that enlivens the profile. Subtle notes of black licorice and light yeast emerge, followed by a hint of gently roasted nuttiness. On the palate, a soft minerality gives way to sweet citrus zest and a refreshing water-like clarity. Vegetal layers blend with light bell pepper and a delicate almond nuttiness, accented by faint whispers of rose and honeysuckle for a refined floral hint. The finish lingers with fading mint and cooked agave, concluding with a bright, zesty citrus trail. A refreshingly delicious and extraordinarily easy to drink Blanco.
De-nada Blanco Nose Agave, cinnamon, pepper, grass, some fruit, bubblegum/tropical/bananas at low nose, a little alcohol on high nose Palate wow! Agave blast with something else. What is it?!? Chocolate, Anise, Some yeast Finish nice warm fruit and heat that lingers I'm really enjoying this expression. thanks to Matt C for sending me the sample!
De-Nada Repo Nose is very pleasing. Baking spices, agave, vanilla, fruit, some tropical notes - banana, mild oak Palate fizzy, sweet agave, brown sugar, caramel, mild pepper Finish is sweet and warm. thanks to Matt C for sending me the sample!
Beautiful nose of agave, oak, caramel and vanilla. Dried fruit. Cherry and flowers The taste is sweet agave followed by oak. We have vanilla and caramel. I have pepper and a touch of hay. The finish is pleasant with slightly thin mouthfeel. It is lasting with final notes of pepper and a touch of alcohol. This is a very nice repo.
Nose: agave sweet / earth / hint of pear / hay Taste: sweet agave / pepper / cinnamon/ banana / apple / lime/ anise / lemongrass/ spearmint/ orange blossom Finish: very water wet / clean crisp ‘cool water’ effect / a touch of bitter on the middle of the taste that dissipates quickly to leave a mild sweetness behind. This blanco has solid flavors and a super nice finish. The sweetness is enjoyable and not overwhelming, even though it’s the predominant part of the experience.
Nose: sweet agave cooked / caramel/ butter / melon / cherry / grapefruit / hint of lemongrass / tea / hint of nutmeg and baking spices / butterscotch/ hint of molasses/ hazelnut Taste: sweet agave cooked / caramel / vanilla/ cinnamon and pepper / oak / banana/ melon / lime / grapefruit/ lemongrass/ tea / peppermint/ nutmeg/ molasses Finish: crisp clean water feel / a touch of viscosity / lingering sweet and pepper notes. A slight bittersweet lingering taste. This reposado has a lot of agave and vanilla to challenge the mild pepper notes. Just a hint of cinnamon rounds out the peppermint like finish and leaves an interesting bittersweet taste on the final swallow. This is another very nice tequila from NOM 1414 / Sergio Cruz.
There is a dispute in the tequila over the right to certify and label tequila as additive free—but the small brands producing it are bearing the brunt of the fallout
Nose: Caramel rises first, easy and warm, carried by a measured line of oak and a steady core of agave. Cinnamon edges in with a dry minerality that keeps things lifted, and a soft pineapple note adds a little brightness without pushing the profile too sweet. Palate & Mouthfeel: The texture lands on the lighter side, medium thin, almost watery - but it works with the profile rather than against it. Agave takes the lead, joined by caramel and a crisp green apple snap that sharpens the palate. Cinnamon and a touch of butter settle in next, grounded by a muted earthiness that keeps the sweetness in check. Finish: Light caramel and cinnamon linger with a faint buttery echo. It reads richer on paper than it drinks; the finish stays airy and refreshing, tapering off cleanly. Final Thoughts: I enjoy this expression noticeably more than its blanco sibling, and that’s saying something. It’s light, layered, and genuinely tasty, offering an easy charm at a strong value. It doesn’t crack the top tier of reposados for me, but it earns its spot on the shelf without hesitation.
