Aroma: This has an herbal bush-like scent. Perhaps a cross between tree pitch and juicy fruit gum? Some appealing pepper and spice in its defense. A hint of green olives. Flavors: Totally weird like the aromas - but I keep diving in, trying to figure this one out. There is sweetness, green olives, and the flavor of martinis, with medium heat. This is a super bargain Mexican offering at $120 pesos.
Nose: Fruity and floral aromas laced with cinnamon, nutmeg and light clove. A dusty touch. Citrus and anise pull up the rear. Flavors: There is bitterness, light pepper and a hint of caramel. The nuances of the nose flatten out to a nondescript heat. The bitterness dissipates as it opens up. Finishes with an anise note. This tequila had been sitting on a shelf for a very long time. At $125 pesos, it was worthy of a try.
Mexican 35% abv. versión, lote: LEVB015, bottled on 01-07-2024, tasted on 9-21-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, hint of resinous sweetness, hint of anise, light aromatic green vegetal notes, hint of fruitiness, hint of earthiness. Hint of sprite, hint of lemon. Hint of sweet chili spiciness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet & sour balance, hint of corn tortilla chip aroma through my retronasal. Finish is medium, hint of sweet cooked agave, hint of pleasant sourness, hint of green vegetal note, corn tortilla chip aroma with light citrus note persists but not too long. Quite impressive for a 35% abv. tequila!
