Puerto Vallarta blanco Sample from junior zander DGN B 257-061231 First sniff, a lot of alcohol on nose, with a little fruit in the background, some unami/mushrooms, some raw agave, vegetal and pepper Palate - there's something familiar i can't define - a fruit maybe? with some black licorice (more than anise) and mildly sweet. Finish is hot with black pepper Not my favorite profile Note: Glencairn 4pm an hour after arroz con pollo
Saw this mixto on a bar back, so I tried it. I sorta wish I hadn't. Reminds me of Cuervo Gold from college. Aroma of artificial sweetener and vanilla. Same flavor and lack of anything else. Where's the agave? finish to speak of.
If you are looking for Congnac that isn’t cognac, this is for you. Orange and gentle oak, some agave is present on the back end. This is shockingly good, especially for the price.
Unfortunately this doesn’t keep the pedigree of the Blanco as much as I would have liked. Decent Tequila, just doesn’t flow as nicely as the Blanxo.
This is on point with anything that comes from Orendain, it’s old school and no nonsense. I like this style, it takes me back.

Agave is steady, joined by a big push of anise and cinnamon. Vanilla runs underneath, balanced by hay and minerality, with fresh mint cutting through. It drinks hotter than its proof, though the natural sweetness evens it out. Finish: Medium in length, carrying sweet agave, anise, and hay. Just as it fades, a faint chemical note sneaks in and lingers - a flaw that undercuts what could have been a clean, classic close. Final Thoughts: Not a complex tequila, but it shows plenty of old school agave character. The profile is tasty and balanced in its own straightforward way, though that off note at the end keeps it a step or two below where it could be.
