This is a very dark and oak-filled reposado. It’s more like an añejo. Dried fruit and toasted oak aromas. Just like the blanco, not super complex in the aroma. Medium mouth feel. Lots of oak and some cinnamon in the flavor. Slightly dry but short finish.
Nice aroma of mint, black pepper, slight coriander and jalapeño. Sweet agave taste, a little watery, with a spicy finish (the jalapeño again.) Would have scored it higher if it were more viscous.
Very neutral aroma with a slight wet earth barnyard touch to it. Not complex at all on the nose. Flavor is similarly non complex and simple. Some cooked agave. But it is very thick and oily in the mouth. The finish is super clean and almost non-existent. I expected that this would have more character because it comes from what looks like a cool little rustic distillery capable of creating exciting products.

Forget what you thought you learned about tequila back in college. Gone are the days of salt-rimmed shots and sloppy margaritas. This venerable liquor is enjoying renewed interest from those who care more about taste than tipsiness — and Austin is becomin
Clove, leather, tobacco nose. Same spicy finish as the blanco. Faint mint also still present. Over aged for a repo.
