Very nice aroma and flavor, buttery, light agave and almond. Pleasant and somewhat quick finish.
AMM XA Blind Tasting: Aromas of candied fruit, cider, dry raisins, hint of port, butter and cooked agave. Medium-light color. Med alcohol, easy sipper, silky mouthfeel. Hints of brown sugar, dry wood, baking spices. Finish has hints of clove with not too much heat. A nice sipper.
Aroma is full of butterscotch, caramel and vanilla, along with a hint of tobacco. On the pallet, those sweet dessert flavors are present, along with clove, pitted, fruit, and earthiness. This has a nice, clean finish.
On the nose: Light agave, a touch of fruity sweetness, definitely some ethanol but it’s faint. Maybe a little berry. Lightly floral. On the palate: Agave, a touch of bitterness that I’m not fond of. A little berry that is pleasant but fleeting. Not a ton of heat, which is an improvement over the the previous distillery. Again, I feel as if I am the dissenting opinion on Cazcanes. This is definitely interesting and I do like it a fair bit more than the previous distillery’s #9/10 blancos, but this really fails to wow me, which I was hoping for. However having had a few SiB repos and jovens from them, I am looking forward to the Rosa repo. I think Cazcanes will shine in an aged expression.
The aroma opens with a bright mix of fruity and floral tones, led by delicate white flowers and soft tropical fruit, all lifted by a gentle wash of petrichor and light ethyl. On the palate, tropical fruit returns with greater presence, joined by buttery toast, fresh lime, mint, and a vegetal edge. Cooked agave leans toward a prune-like sweetness, creating a grounding counterpoint to the fresher notes. A distinct thread of salinity runs throughout, with light ethyl showing more assertively on the tongue than on the nose. The finish clings with saline intensity, tingly ethyl pepperiness, and a trace of grassiness that lingers just long enough to keep the palate engaged.

It’s been barely a decade since Cazcanes Tequila was founded by a passionate trio of agave enthusiasts. But the brand has already established itself as one of the best-selling craft labels in the game.
Tequilas aged in wine casks have become trendy recently, as producers play with different barrel influences. But “Rosa” tequilas, like “cristalino”, aren’t an official category.
Blind tasting results: 10 great "Rosa" tequilas.
High-proof tequilas, once only for hardcore drinkers, are now being released at a steady pace. Why?
While aficionados tend to prefer blanco tequilas, and imbibers of dark spirits usually gravitate towards añejos, the reposado category is often overlooked.
Quite viscous in the mouth, this has a ton of agave, barrel spice and that 50% ABV to knock your tongue around some as this passes over. Quite nice.
