The brand is owned by Maryland native Tiffany Capri Hainesworth. She is the first African American Female to own her brand outright without other partners. Tiffany was inspired to start her own company after a traumatic car accident. In 2012 she started TCapri Gourmet Treats, which eventually led to the founding of TCapri Tequila. She worked directly with artisan distillers, traveled to Jalisco, Mexico, and learned the process from farm to glass. Tiffany has also been involved in supporting the community in Mexico by helping to establish a girls' school in Guadalajara and working with a distillery that received a Gender Equity Model Certificate from Mexico's National Women's Institute. After meeting Tiffany at Arte Agave in DC this past September, I coukd easily see her passion for the entire industry! She can absolutely talk the business as well as any well versed individual! Aroma: Earthy Cooked Agave that is prevalent in many brands produced at the distillery is immediate. Big difference is this is a toned down version. Cinnamon and Pepper stuck out a little more than the Oak, Vanilla, and Caramel. A sweet Floral note offers some finesse. A Dried Citrus is also in this. A reminiscent farm smell of Hay and Tobacco drying in a barn. As this fades a small amount of Cocao emerges. Taste: The Earthy Cooked Agave has a Baked Sweet Potato flavor with a good amount of Black Pepper. The Barrel Spices of Oak, Vanilla, and Caramel also have a touch of Cinnamon. A nice amount of sweet Citrus mixes in. There is also that touch of Hay and a light Vegetalness. Finish: The finish was short to medium in length and the Earthy Agave run the gambit with the Black Pepper and Cinnamon. TMM--84 Salud!
It’s awesome to know that this brand is made by a black female and confirmed additive free. This tequila has a nose of cooked agave, citrus like lemon, minerality, licorice. This tequila feels light on the tongue with cooked agave on the front that flows into a light citrus notes, some anise, herbal and white pepper that starts on your tongue for a long finish.
