Polanco Organic Blanco Tequila This is a solid new tequila coming out of NOM1633 - Casa Loy. It’s made with some traditional methods. Organic agave cooked in a stone brick oven, Tahona crushed, fermented in stainless steel, distilled in copper pot stills, using deep well water and then rested in American oak ex bourbon barrels. The bottle is made from recycled glass by the same people that make the Fortaleza bottles. They are embossed but also have paper labels and a cork with a wood topper. On the nose I’m getting fresh agave, white pepper, citrus zest, a slight vegetal note and some minerals. The taste is very similar to the nose. There’s some sweet agave, citrus, vegetal, minerals, some alcohol and white pepper on the finish. Overall it has a rustic taste with a bright nose and a medium peppery finish. The minerals run into the finish which I like. ——————-——————-——————-—————— Rated Blind: 81 N: celery, white pepper, clean vegetal T: creamy agave but no depth, savory F: disappears
Nice nose cook agave and some mineral reality. Taste cooked agave, buttery and a nice cinnamon finish!
Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Cinnamon, Butter, Citrus, Stonefruit, Melon Flavor: Jalapeño, Melon, Vanilla Finish: Cooked Agave, Anise, Honey With a name like Polanco, I had my doubts. To me, the name sounds more like a vodka brand than a tequila brand. Still, I gave this a fair shake and it did not disappoint.
