Big flavor here along with a fair amount of alcohol. The problem is the flavor isn't of tequila rather it is like a heavy oak barrel bourbon. What is here, is tasty and yet buzzy and numbing in the finish. I don't know of too many other extra añejo tequilas from this NOM. Maybe there is a reason for that.

NOM 1438 | Cherry and cognac notes overpower agave. Too much burn on finish.

Nice extra anejo. Vanilla , caramel bourbon like character. Enjoyed sipping.

Beautiful vanilla caramel smell and taste

Strong flavors of additives. Very mild agave flavor if any, mostly overpowered by wood and added sugars. Has a nice nose of fruit woods, cherry, cinnamon, cake batter, synthetic vanilla frosting, but the taste is mostly an alcohol burn, with a very light, almost watery finish. Not a bad price for an extra anejo with very little substance. This might be enjoyable for someone who doesnt mind synthetic tasting additive flavors and is looking to save some money, but I would not buy again.

very underrated añejo. very smooth!!

Good on the nose, mouth and finish! Great value for the price but lacks many of the agave, caramel, and peppery notes expected from an Exta Anejo Tequila. Has more Bourbon like notes. But I like bourbon. Had a not been a tequila drinker as some of my friends, I would rate it as best they have ever had! But yet it is a pleasure to sip for what it is and costs!

love this extra Añejo and all the El Padrino tequilas...this particular one reminds me of Avion 44 at half the price...don't get me wrong Avion 44 is absolutely one of my favorites but when cash is tight...go for the El Padrino Extra Añejo

Purchased after their añejo, which was my first of that vintage, and I was surprised how much I liked it. This is wonderful with a sphere ice cube.

Smells so good. Not an expert on describing but it’s sweet and makes my mouth water.

Not too complex on the nose: a bit of oak, alcohol and faint vanilla and agave. On the tongue the oak is prominent, but with some caramel, toffee, light agave and sweetness, which carries over into some heat and then a smooth finish. I would get this again, and in the meantime I will try the Añejo.

I really enjoy this tequila. I was skeptical based on the reviews but it definitely didn't disappoint!

This tequila is just too oaky for my taste. I know these EAs are supposed to be full flavor but this is just too much oak.

Interesting tequila, flavors of coffe, chocolate and spices. Some complexity no real agave flavor not sure I would buy again. Definitely an after dinner drink. Good finish . Rating is for the Extra Anejo

New at Total Wine here in AZ. Heavy spice and a hint of sweetness. Best of the entire line. A bit of a value buy for low-priced extra añejos.
