Ocho Tequila Reposado

“This was a very different, but far from disappointing Reposado. It’s aromas have a presence of alcohol, as obvious as that sounds one picks up on the difference with bottles such as these, and Raw Agave and Lemon. The body adds some earthy flavors with even a very subtle oak flavor. The finish offers something to me even more different, a nice Smokey finish reminiscent of Mezcal. Not overbearing, and not strong, but enough to taste it. It’s a very good bottle for collections, and if you want a good bottle for a different experience, but otherwise is better suited for a collection. Definitely a sipper, would be good mixed but is easily enjoyed sipped. Highly recommend for a very different Reposado, highly enjoyed the different taste. ”

Asombroso Extra Añejo 5 Year

“Wow. This Tequila rings in a lot of memories from Clase Azul, yet still has its own profile. The nose and flavor pack the same strong vanilla, Carmel, butterscotch, and oak, while all gently balanced, none overpowering the other, while the finish brings a very gentle bitterness that wraps the flavors in to bring this Tequila to a great product. Pepper, cooked Agave, and very subtle cinnamon, are also present. The price point is very high, but for those who truly appreciate Tequila, they’ll realize you can’t get this flavor because of the process and effort put into this bottle, it has to be priced appropriately. This is not something to shoot, not to mix, but to sip every so often as it should sit on the shelf for only the special occasions. I’d rebuy this over and over, as this is a top shelf bottle for a very reasonable price, considering the process put for this bottle. Easy 100/100, highly recommended. ”

“I bought a drink of this at a bar, and liked the flavor. A good oak aroma and flavor that hit for me before the earthy Agave flavors did which was unusual but enjoyable, and it stuck through the finish. Very smooth, and I enjoyed another shot of as well before leaving to try and capture more flavor, but it was the same as before, still enjoyable. Definitely a different tequila you could use at gatherings, wouldn’t be a go to, but it does pack a flavor easily enjoyed neat or as a shooter. I could see this mixing very well. ”

“This has a lot of hype, but for the price it’s a very simple tequila that may serve more as a social statement. It’s worth to have in a collection for a more sophisticated shooter, blends well in mixers, but I wouldn’t enjoy this neat personally. It has a very present Agave and citrus flavor, and for me that’s all I picked up. For the price it’s very simple, and from bottle to bottle can have a bite or not. It’s one bottle I would chill, as it does seem to suit it well, but I don’t like that with my tequila personally. I’d go for other bottles of Patron but this one is not one I’d go out of my way for. It’s my mother’s favorite, and I’d gladly partake in drinking it, but isn’t a rush for my collection. If you prefer simple, very Agave present tequilas, this is a good one, and again does provide more of a social status statement then it does more if anything. It can be appreciated as another shooter, but I would shy away from anything else because of the flavor, and price. ”

Cazadores Tequila Reposado

“This is a tequila my grandma loves, and it’s not my personal favorite. I honestly don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad tequila, as each bottle serves its purpose for gatherings, or collections. To me this bottle carries a very strong Agave aroma, taste, and finish. It has a bite, but not one that’s unbearable as the Agave seems to sit just right on the palate. I can pick up some earthy citrus tones, by those are more suited with a Blanco so for a Reposado it was a bit unusual. This would be another shooter for me, but could be enjoyed neat if you enjoy a very bold Agave flavored tequila. It’s very present and very bold, which isn’t bad as that’s what makes Tequila beautiful, but with this bottle it’s very present, a lot for a Reposado. I appreciate it though and would buy this for a get together that calls for a different shooter, that can be mixed or enjoyed neat, but would say it’s another shooter that many tequila drinkers might not have heard of, but will enjoy. ”

“For the price of this bottle, you get a good tequila that is worthy to hold in a collection. Similar to Olmeca Los Altos, but not as smooth. It does have a bite, but it encompasses itself in the agave finish that resonates from the nose. Citrusy aromas and flavor pack through the entire taste, and you’ll pick up an earthy tone that sits well with the bottle. This would be my go to shooter for a party that calls for some class, but can easily be enjoyed neat. Diluting it would take away from its flavor, and it does well in mixed drinks, but again I’d say it makes for a wonderful shooter when a celebration calls for it. Simple as well, but a great bottle to pick up for that weekend gathering, as the other sits in the collection at home. ”

“This was my first clear Añejo, and I think it did a great introduction. You’ll get a beautiful Agave nose, hints of grassy and earthy goodness, with subtle citrus sitting in the back. It’s flavor packs a punch! Not a bite, but how the flavors touch the palate is not what you’d expect if you’re new to a clear Añejo. Very smooth Agave, beautiful oak body, and the citrus you pick up in the aroma comes in the finish very subtle as well. You have to enjoy this neat, to respect its full flavor and beautiful taste. It’s Don Julio! You have to have this in the collection and have to savor the bottle. A fairly priced piece of work that will make any celebration memorable! ”

“I’m not entirely a Blanco tequila fan. I do drink them and have them in my collection, but they aren’t my go to. I picked this bottle up because of the process they say it’s prepared as, and I do not regret it. The Agave aroma and flavor is bold but smooth, very earthy and you’ll get citrus tones in the aroma, and finish. It doesn’t bite, and considering for a $30 and under bottle, that says a lot! I couldn’t believe the taste for the price. It’s simple, but that for some reason makes it more notable. I could appreciate this as not a shooter, as I usually do with Blancos, but something to sip on to start a night off of tasting or to lightly finish the evening. It pairs well with lime and salt and could see it mixing well, but would prefer this one neat to appreciate its simple beauty. ”

“It’s the 1942! A very great tequila that is easily recognizable but the price tag has many shy away from. It goes without saying that this isn’t your shooter, the vanilla is the scent that is easily detected, and can overtake the body, but the agave, oak, butterscotch, and earthy aromas and flavor compliment it very well to take a sweet flavor, to a more bodied, well accompanied tequila. Easily enjoyed neat, as it’s very smooth. This is a tequila that has to be in a collection, and opened for special occasions. The price tag is high, but when you allow the aromas to compliment the body, and sit with the finish, you see why this is a very well made and drank tequila. ”

“This is another tequila that is good for a Paloma, or other mixed drinks, but would need some ice to dilute what can be a harsh flavor. Another simple one as well, agave and grass, very very subtle pepper and lemon flavors. It’s another to be enjoyed as a bottle before going out, or a simple gathering, but not one to totally show off. The value is good, and when you hit this range you get very harsh agave tasting tequilas meant for mixing as any tequila that requires dilution doesn’t hold true to its flavor, but can still be enjoyed. ”

“Now for a bottle under $20, average, you get a tequila that does require some dilution. Very harsh, but for the money you can expect that. If you’re a fan of a very agave tasting tequila, some lemon and grassy flavors, then this is a good tequila to bring for a pregame for a night out, or for having at a get together. It’s a very simple tequila, but it is my go to when getting a tequila for those atmospheres. I’d recommend it for those, easily a mixer, or enjoyed with ice cubes unless you can enjoy the pure agave bite that it comes with. Good tequila, but you have to look for the good in it as initially it is very harsh which can be hard to overcome. ”

“A “mid shelf” bottle for sure, that is an acquired taste. The flavors are all simple as the nose and body and finish stay about the same. The agave really stays present, and the citrusy and earthy flavors you smell also hot the palate first, alongside the finish. For around $30 you get a good tequila that can be enjoyed neat, or with an ice cube or two if it’s to harsh. That dilutes the flavor but for some will make it enjoyable. ”

El Tesoro Tequila Añejo

“A very good tequila that packs a very different taste for an Añejo. Very earthy, floral, citrus, and agave aromas. The body gently bites with the floral and earthy, agave flavors. Some subtle pepper flavors, followed by some oak. The finish encompasses the body, with a hint of a mezcal flavor. It’s not overly Smokey, but if you’ve had a mezcal you’ll get the subtle hint that the finish brings. Great when enjoyed neat, and definitely a tequila worth adding to a collection. If you’re strict on your Añejo then this will be a very different taste, but worthy of a drink. If you enjoy a Blanco or Reposado then this is going to be a good Añejo for you to have, it give a try to. Very well made. ”

“This tequila is a very different blanco. Very earthy, floral, wet grass aroma to it. The palate is treated with fruity, pear, apple, and earthy flavors, followed by what the nose brought. Very smooth finish, as the flavors ride through nicely, and is a blanco that can easily be enjoyed neat. For those who enjoy darker, or añejo tequilas, I’d recommend this as a good blanco you can start an evening with to get those earthy flavors some darker tequilas bring. ”

“This tequila is a steal! You get a very Añejo taste for a Reposado. The nose will bring sweetness, vanilla, Carmel, oak, and agave. You can pick up slight citrus and earthy aromas but they’re very subtle. The body is filled with those flavors with unprecedented smoothness. They’re complimented as the vanilla and Carmel hit the palate first, followed by the oak and agave, and it finishes with the earthy, oak, and sweetness again for a very smooth finish. It gets better as it sits in the glass. The value is out of this world! For the money you get a bottle that could easily be priced for much more, but one can suspect that Clase Azul made a premium tequila to be enjoyed, to bring people together to enjoy a beautiful drink neat, or easily complimented with salt and lime, without compensating it’s value. ”

“You’ll get the beautiful agave thats sat in charred barrels scent quickly. When you drink it, the cooked agave will then transform into a Carmel, vanilla flavor that’s subtle but sweet enough to notice. It finishes with the scent it started with while still smoothly encompassing all flavors that covered the palate. It’s a very smooth tequila and fairly priced. ”
