Olmeca Altos Reposado
“These guys are doing something right. This is perfect when you want a nice tipple but you don't want to bring out the big guns. On the nose you get agave, hint of oak, touch of vanilla and some fruit. Taste, agave is very present, cooked and raw. Not too boozy, nice vanilla, honey, orange and oak. The finish has just the right amount of alcohol and lasts for ages! At least in the UK, you can get this tequila at a very reasonable price. I don't want to say "cheap" because of the connotations, so I will settle for "affordable" In my opinion this tequila would work well for people who like dark spirits, as well as for tequila aficionados. ”

“Not really my thing. It is not bad, I can see why some people would like it. However, I couldn't detect much complexity. The agave aroma and taste are very present. On the taste, agave is followed by a hint of oak and oak bitter. The finish was peppery and alcoholic. The strange thing is that it left a waxy feel on my tongue even though it doesn't have any additives. I would drink it again if it was offered to me but due to the price point, I think there are other alternatives I would choose first.”

Villa Lobos Añejo
“Smell: It took a while to open up. Strong earthy aroma at first pour. it opened up to plenty of vanilla, cooked agave, straw and wet earth. Taste: Plenty of cooked agave. Also, vanilla, chocolate, black pepper and alcohol. It has a fair, sweet finish. At around £37 per bottle it is good value for money. If you like añejos, this would make a good every day sipper. ”

“I was overwhelmed by a strong "chemical smell" I bought this a a sipping tequila, when I was unable to drink it straight, I tried making a cocktail with it but couldn't drink that either. I don't know if I got a bad bottle but this was undrinkable, the only other time I have smell this horrible smell it was from bottle of Captain Morgan white rum. I don't like wasting food or drink, but I had to flush this one down the drain.”

“Lot 59-R On the nose you get cooked Agave, vanilla, a hint of butter, grassy notes and very little alcohol (even before you let it breathe). You can taste plenty agave,, caramel, vanilla and a hint of oak. The texture is neither dry nor oily, just a nice balance of both. It has a good finish, medium to strong burn and lingering Agave and pepper.”
