Nose: Even after 6 months resting in George Dickel rye barrels, the core identity of this tequila is unmistakable. That classic NOM 1579 minerality is front and center - clean, crisp, and just edging into briny territory thanks to the oak influence. You also get a solid hit of cooked agave, which is always a good sign. There’s a lot going on here: black pepper, cinnamon, and a touch of citrus brighten it up and keep it from getting too heavy. Palate & Mouthfeel: This is very agave forward, which I love. Right behind it is a layer of black pepper that adds a nice kick without overwhelming things. The rye barrel aging brings in a subtle oakiness, and that salty, mineral quality from the nose carries through. There’s also a hint of vegetal earthiness and more of that warming cinnamon spice. It’s got a smooth, round mouthfeel that gives it a nice weight without being syrupy. Finish: The finish is mellow but really pleasant. You get a sweet-spicy cinnamon tingle that lingers on the tongue, but it fades out cleanly. It all ends on a high note - nothing fancy, just clean and satisfying. Final Thoughts: This is a really solid reposado. The rye barrel aging adds some nice complexity without taking over, and the minerality gives it character. It’s a great balance of agave forward and thoughtful aging. Definitely something I’d pour again.
Aroma: cooked agave citrus and a little hint of wet grass or earthy! Taste: cooked agave, Buttery taste and a little allspice, only an only a little vanilla or oaky flavor and it’s just right. Every sip is amazing. Finish: the finish to me as long with a lot of agave flavor and a little spicy pepper at the end.
Aromas: on the nose is really nice and smooth I get cooked agave, citrus, herbal, minerality, grass, caramel, sweet Taste: on the palate is so smooth, cooked agave, minerality, herbal, grass and lil peppery Finish: is long and really smooth
Nose: lots of cooked agave, then oak, vanilla, caramel, citrus, minerality, and even vegetal. Palate: cooked agave, oak, pepper, very vegetal and lots of minerality. Some vanilla and cinnamon.
I find the aroma to be reminiscent of a summer rain on freshly laid cement. The delicate scent of caramelized cooked agave adds a touch of sweetness, while subtle notes of cider vinegar and brine contribute to its complexity. Notably absent is any harsh or overpowering ethyl presence, allowing the nuances of black pepper to subtly emerge. Upon savoring, the palate enjoys a harmonious interplay of flavors. Subtle hints of cooked agave and black cherry dance gracefully alongside faint traces of anise and cinnamon, reminiscent of a delicate spice blend. The addition of sarsaparilla and butterscotch lends a subtle sweetness, while a whisper of whiskey and tropical fruit adds depth without overpowering the palate. For me, the influence of the barrel is well received, allowing the tequila to shine through without being overshadowed. As the tasting concludes, the finish leaves a lasting impression of exceptional freshness. A minuscule hint of pepperiness lingers delicately on the palate, accompanied by subtle traces of caramel and soft alcohol. A very enjoyable Repo.
Yes, buy this! Great repo for a great price. Light on the oak and full on the agave. It is very balanced and has a great finish. Very sweet nose. Full of cooked agave. Caramel vanilla grape. Anise. On the palate we get a mouth of cooked agave, Cinnamon, black pepper and jalapeño pepper, oak and citrus. Very nice mouthfeel and balanced finish.
Nose: Vegetal herbal crispness. Soon joined by a sweet cooked agave with mild vanilla. A hint of something that reminds me of pizza but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe an Italian herb tomato sauce. Palate: Medium body and mouth feel. Very green. Gentle and clean. Cooked agave with the mild vanilla continuing from the nose. Mouth feel steadily increases the more air it gets. Let this tequila breath and it will deliver for you
LOTE 12R Bottled on 6/7/23. Slightly darker in color than the original. Great on the nose with minerality. Even better taste! Lots of agave. Very enjoyable. Glad I found this!
G4 Reposado is one of my go to daily sippers and cocktail bases. It’s everything you’d want in a top-end tequila, only with a more middle class price tag. It’s smooth, with a great mouth finish. The nose is a little low…smells clean and agave forward, but doesn’t give up much more. But on the palate it’s a pleasure. Subdued fruit/agave flavor gives way to a clean super finish that ends slightly sweet. G4 is a fantastic brand and the Reposda could be my favorite expression.
Lot 11- Delicious =88 Lot 12 - Wow =89
Batch 46RE this is so creamy and complex and balanced. Agave throughout buttery light vanilla like creme brûlée and baking spices kick in at the end it evolves doesn’t disappoint.
Agave barrel and pepper. Citrus notes with strong black pepper finish. Slightly musky that enhances complexity, probably due to water.
Big fan of G4. The reposado is truly an extension of the blanco. The agave really shines through. G4 has a distinctive flavor for me that I pick up in each expression. It has light notes of oak, peppers, very vegetal and buttery.
Fresh, earth, minerality, just the right amount of barrel influence.
Single Barrel selected by Sip Tequila, Barrel #8
On the nose, cooked agave, softer than the blanco for sure, and sweeter. A fruity note, maybe peach or nectarine? Very interesting. Minerals and a very faint floral note that is very interesting. Black pepper, and caramel as it opens up. On the palate, It’s vegetal, cooked agave, grassy. Strong mineral presence. Shockingly vegetal for me, that stands out more clearly than in the blanco. A light touch of honey and vanilla. Amazing stuff. Well worth a try, and definitely one of the best reposados I’ve ever had.
Mellow lemon, floral nose - light on the agave. Taste is very smooth and citrus-forward. It has a sweet, almost buttery mouthfeel. More agave and vanilla in the taste than on the nose. I don’t really taste the oak barrel aging, but it obviously contributes to its smoothness. The finish is pleasant, if a little short-lasting. Very clean and good value. *This is an edit of a previous rating, and reflects a significantly higher rating than my first impression.
Blind rating 2/12/2024. Original score of 87. Aroma: herbal, sage brush, black pepper, dry dirt, lavender, with a hint of orange zest. Flavor: cardamom, oak, smoke, white pepper, herbal, salt brine. Finish: very short with a good warmth I can tell this is a very well made tequila but the flavors are just not what I look for/ desire in a tequila. Otherwise I would have given this a slightly higher rating by 2 or 3 points.
Aroma: Light cooked agave, oak, and fresh-cut jalapeño pepper. Taste: Similar to the aroma, light flavors throughout, more oak flavor than present in the aroma. Finish: Ultra smooth, one of the cleanest finishes of any reposado I’ve tried. I feel like you can almost taste the smooth minerality of the rain water El Pandillo is famed for using. Overall: An amazingly good reposado. Does not have that bold flavor other reposados have, but I don’t think you can find a cleaner, smoother tasting reposado anywhere.
Nose of Elmer's glue (that's a good thing) light lemon and vegetal scents with slight wood. Flavor is an excellent balance of wood and agave, almost too perfect. My favorite Repo yet.
Good repo. G4 products are quality. I prefer the blanco but that is just a personal preference. A repo person will not be disappointed. A lightly sweet mouth feel and a nice oily sensation. The finish is longer than many with some spicy. If you are working into repos and eventually anejos and XAs, this is a good place to start.
Maple Lake G4 Single Barrel. Heaven's nectar. A real treat
Another winner from G4, neutral to light oak brings out subtle sweet agave, real pleasant finish. Very balanced

Aromas are rich, vanilla, brown sugar, browned butter roasted sweet potato or agave. Nice feel on the tongue, viscus. Flavors are very good, roasted agave, caramel. Long sweet finish, I’ve always loved finding these over the years, so glad these bottles have been more accessible lately, especially at the more recent prices. Great buy!
