Aroma of caramel, butter, and a little agave. Flavor of agave, pepper and vanilla. Medium finish.

The aromas I picked up were scathing ethyl, oak, caramel, brine, and light butterscotch The taste cuts with strong ethyl but the agave, citrus, light brine, light caramel, and vegtal tones are there but patience is needed in order to sort through the potent alcohol taste. Finish is brine with light peppery alcohol and agave.

Nose- Wet grass, raw agave, rubbing alcohol Palate- Cooked caramel Finish- Sweet… somewhat clean. Overall decent value reposado that has high that would make a good cocktail base.

Not much to say it's sippable, moderate complexity. Considering the price it's good enough.

Aroma : Agave, alcohol, vanilla, cinnamon and oak . Nothing too complex here. Taste : Alcohol and agave with a fair amount of vanilla and oak. Again nothing too complex here. To me it seemed like the notes got "mixed" together or something of the like. It might have something to do with the oddly sweet nature of the vanilla notes. Finish : Finish is somewhat short with a bit of spice and alcohol, with some vanilla notes here as well. This is a pretty basic tequila. Not bad, but it's not something I would drink straight again. I'm sure it would go well in a margarita though.

This is a shot tequila for fun parties at a decent price, but falls short of a sipping tequila under my ratings

Nose: Had a sweetness of honeysuckle, caramel, wood, citrus and berries. Muted agave. Tongue: A little hot. Agave was not the star of the show. Butterscotch, oak, light vanilla, sweetener, pressure-cooked agave. Long, but somewhat artificial finish. With that said, it wasn’t offensive. The price point is fantastic, just not an all-night sipper, for me.

Still quite a bit of bitterness off the hop but the oak treatment seems to have weeded out the sweet agave I love so much! Warm butterscotch finish is nice but I’ll stick with the Blanco.

Bit of a harsh nose. Lot of alcohol hiding the agave, caramel, and ripe banana. Also hot on the tongue but a nice flavor overall. Oak, pepper, agave flavors. Short, slightly bitter finish.

Nose: Bright agave, fruit and floral notes. Palate: Initially, semi viscous, pepper and sweet agave. Secondary spices, mint and trace almond emerge. Mexican 38%.

Sweet aroma, there is a slight burn on the finish. Definitely a good value tequila that can stand on its own.

Espolòn Reposado – 78/100 Flight: Reposado Flight Contestants: * Cimarrón Reposado * Luna de Jalisco Reposado * Dulce Vida Organic Reposado (80 Proof) * Campo Bravo Reposado * ElVelo Reposado * Espolòn Reposado Closing out the flight was Espolòn Reposado. After several traditionally made reposados, this one leaned noticeably toward a whiskey-inspired profile. While approachable and easy to drink, it never quite found the balance of agave, spice, and barrel character that several earlier pours achieved. Nose The aroma opens with oak and an additional note that’s difficult to identify but sits alongside the barrel influence. The nose is pleasant enough, though it lacks the vibrant cooked agave or mineral character found elsewhere in the flight. Taste The palate brings pepper and cinnamon up front before moving into oak, licorice, and a bourbon-like sweetness. The combination feels somewhat disjointed, with the licorice note competing against the baking spices instead of complementing them. Finish The finish offers a gentle warmth with lingering oak and light tannins. While clean and approachable, it doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression beyond the barrel influence. Overall Espolòn Reposado is an easy-drinking reposado that feels heavily influenced by the barrel. The bourbon-style oak and licorice notes overshadow the agave, making the profile less cohesive than the others in this lineup. There’s nothing overtly wrong with it, but in a flight of traditionally expressive reposados it simply couldn’t keep pace. On its own it would likely be enjoyable, but side-by-side it finished near the bottom because the balance and identity weren’t as compelling. Score: 78/100

It really is the best of the mass produced additive free options. $26 is beyond amazing value. Probably not a sipper but this can go into any cocktail or with soda. Is it better than 1942 or Clase Azul? No. But at 1/10th of the price the value drives up the rating substantially.

Aroma faintly of agave. It's pleasant, but simple. Flavor of cooked agave and alcohol. It tastes good, a bit too sweet. And it tastes and feels rough around the edges from the alcohol flavor. I'm still new to this, but I suspect artificial sweetener. Finishes surprisingly well, given the alcohol flavor. Value is good, if you can get it for $30 USD or less. I've seen prices from $25 to $40. It's fine. I won't be sipping this one neat, but it will make for good cocktails.
