tasted at cantina mayahuel San diego 2015. I'm rating based on those notes. all I have from my notes is we liked it. had a good balance of spice and flavor. but this was before we knew about additives. so i should try again and adjust rating at some point.

Nice bottle but that's about it.

It's drinkable and remarkably simple. Strong vanilla and caramel flavors some oak, very little agave. Same old mass produced tequila.

I try this at a best friends house. The bottle have been sitting for six years on their bar. Mellow aromas of oak, flowers, and cook agave. Flavor includes Apple, melon, earth and some bitter taste. There are short legs on glass and barely no after taste at the finish. Bottle is unique and a piece of conversation .

Middle of the pack juice, it gets better as it sits on your tongue but doesn’t reach any kind of peak to get me excited.

NOM 1416 This bottle is from 2011 and is part of the Selección Pirámide series. Nose: This is not a terribly robust nose, but it has a fair amount going on. It begins with floral notes and a tad of sharpness. It moves into soft vanilla notes with hints of cinnamon. It then shifts into musty earthiness. Flavor: The nose held some promise, but sadly it did not deliver. There is vanilla and a strange sweetness, followed by pronounced bitter notes.

A bit sweet, but it grows on you. Not too sweet, so give it a try. My bottle was NOM1416. It was almost empty. Maybe 5 or 6 ounces before my pour.

NOM 1605 | Vanilla and alcohol aromas. Vanilla, alcohol, and some agave for a smooth taste. Little bite on finish. Cool bottle.

The bottle is much better than the nectar inside. Not filtered well. Tons of floaters. We let it gas off a few minutes to reduce the harsh alcohol. Aroma is mild cheap perfume. Taste about the same. Not smooth. Flat finish. The bottle is a big smokescreen for what you don’t get inside.

Not a great value but at least the bottle is pretty.

NOM 1605 | Notes of Vanilla, Carmel, alcohol, nice finish, overpriced but drinkable. Cool bottle.

This is nice, but unfortunately I still have the taste of bacon in my mouth from that handful of bacon bits stolen from the downstairs kitchen. It’s smooth, and a perfect balance of oaky notes and Blanco textures. Finish isn’t converting my tastebuds to Mormonism.

Review #277 - Esperanto Tequila Reposado

I picked up a bottle of Esperanto Reposado the last time I was in Mexico. The great looking bottle caught my attention and I had never seen it in the states before that either.
