Patrón Spirits Company’s artisanal Roca Patrón line, launched this summer, has far exceeded initial projections and is re-energizing the upscale Tequila brand for the company, which has further releases on the way.
Patrón's newest premium tequila, Roca Patron, may also be its most old-fashioned.
Patrón Spirits Co.—which essentially created the high-end tequila segment with its flagship Patrón Tequila brand—has gone further upmarket with a new line of artisanal Tequilas called Roca Patrón.
Bottle: LOTE REPR 0071117, 1888008, 07:13, Certification of Hand Bottling No. 2997R 2W Appearance: Marigold satin Nose: Cooked and raw agave, vanilla, honey, citrus, orange, oak, baking spice, cinnamon, allspice, brown sugar, dry earth, mocha, black pepper, alcohol, butter, and minerality…very agave-forward Palate: Cooked and raw agave, oak, whiskey, barrel spice, molasses, vanilla, honey, butter, mocha, mushroom, ginger, baking spice, clove, anise, mint, alcohol, black pepper, and dry earth…some fun flavors beyond the expected Finish: Molasses, black pepper, citrus, cedar, and wood shavings…long and warming with a viscous mouthfeel Overall: This reposado is really fun to drink. It’s got a bit of a bite, but the heat and other elements are pretty well balanced. It’s agave forward, while still allowing the barrel aging to impart some sweetness and spice. There’s complexity, without being overwhelming. I hope Patron decides to bring the Roca line back into production. Until then, I’ll enjoy this while it lasts.
