Bottle: LOTE 14DNRE1018 Appearance: Caramel Nose: Cooked agave, buttered caramel popcorn, cinnamon, oak, citrus, lime, black pepper, fruit, plum, pineapple, honey, maple, baking spice, alcohol, vanilla, cut grass, cream soda, and coffee…a really good nose Palate: Cooked agave, cinnamon, jalapeño, butter, oak, brine/salinity, olive, black pepper, alcohol, honey, molasses, citrus, lemon, roasted nuts, whiskey, and black tea…is this even the same tequila? Finish: Black pepper, molasses, jalapeño, and lemon…thin to medium viscosity with a short to moderate length Overall: This tasting was unexpected, all the way. The palate and nose almost felt like two different experiences, with both being very good. The nose was the star of the show and the aromas really popped up front, but the palate has a dry, tannic presence not dissimilar to many of the wine barrel rested tequilas I’ve tried. Considering the absurdly low price, this will get purchased many more times.

Bottle: LOTE 24DNBE0318 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, citrus, lemon, lime, pineapple, alcohol, black and white pepper, brine/salinity, vegetal, bell pepper, freshly cut grass, and subtle smoke…traditional and citrusy Palate: Cooked and raw agave, citrus, grapefruit, alcohol, black and white pepper, flowers, wet grass, jalapeño, metallic, and mild astringency…flavors are complimentary, until the end Finish: Citrus, alcohol, mild astringency, and jalapeño…medium length, but a thinner mouthfeel Overall: This really opened up nicely after some resting. Aromas and flavors were mostly balanced, which would have made this remarkably easy to sip if it wasn’t for some neutral spirit-like harshness on the palate and finish. That being said, I found this extremely versatile for a number of cocktails and, all in all for just under $30, I’m not unhappy with the purchase.
