Nose: Merlot and burnt sugar rise first, layered over warm agave and a cognac-like richness. Notes of dried fruit, especially fig and pear pull through with a soft floral edge of rose buds and a whiff of pipe tobacco. It’s an elegant and expressive nose, hinting at both sweetness and structure. Palate & Mouthfeel: The agave still shows up, but quickly gives way to deep dried fruit tones - prune and fig dominate. The barrel’s influence pushes strong spice and cinnamon, verging into an astringent, almost tannic territory. What begins as layered and intriguing becomes increasingly sharp and heavy, with sweetness edging toward syrupy. Finish: Bitter and astringent, with lingering barrel spice and fading fruit. The dryness overwhelms what started as promising balance. Final Thoughts: The nose and early palate offered genuine potential - refined, complex, and distinctive. But the palate collapses under heavy barrel influence, leaving a cloying bitterness that dulls what could’ve been something special. Enjoyable to experience once, but not one I’d seek out again.
Typically not a huge fan of Rosas but this stuff is delicious! I’d recommend letting it open up for a few minutes before drinking. The nose has a ton of layers of cherry, berries, cocoa and spices. On the palate I got plum, cherry and chocolate with cooked agave hints. Lots of layers to this and it got better and more complex over a few sips. Nice finish with a hint of sweetness and a little vanilla notes with some subtle black pepper. Overall, really well done by the Yeyo team!
Wow just wow!! All of these favors are hard to explain. Great cook agave and then so much more!
