“As much as this gets talked up, I was admittedly a little underwhelmed after finally getting a bottle (1123 stuff isn’t available near me). Not that it was bad, just a bit… middling. Very one dimensional and honestly there are numerous 1123 offerings I like better. Maybe it just needs a bit of time to open up a bit now that the bottle is open. I also have a bottle of tahona blanco ready to crack so hopefully better luck there. ”

“Classic tequila flavor. Bright, earthy citrus with nice agave tang. It just tastes exactly what you imagine a traditional well made blanco should. Highly sippable but maintains that classic tequila sharpness that makes it perfect in a marg. You can find this in some places for under $30 which makes it a no-brainer.”

“Not loving the gummy tar seal on the bottle, but once in the glass this is a very nice, approachable reposado. Took a little while to open up, but now that it has, I’m really enjoying it as an everyday sipper. Agave-forward character but with just a touch of barrel and spice - reminds me a little of Volans. It might not be the first thing I reach for but always good to know which affordable tequilas are out there that won’t disappoint.”

“Very interesting. 1643 definitely has a winner with Zumbador so I was excited to try this. Expectations exceeded. Deep, rich flavor especially for a Reposado, The wine casks and French oak take center stage, play very nicely together here (coming from one who generally doesn’t love French oak aged tequila). Fruit and spice - mainly raisins and cinnamon - come through on the nose and palette, actually reminding me instantly of ArteNOM 1146 - a bar staple of mine. Though this is slightly less mature, just like 1146, it never gets into bourbon territory, but more like tequila crossed with a nice spicy mulled wine. What a treat, and at half the price or less of 1146, this doesn’t have to be an occasional one.”

“Somewhere between Volans repo and Terralta. It’s got the sweet, agave-forward tang, but tempered slightly by some nice mineral and vegetal flavors. Between this and the La Sabina, I preferred this one ever so slightly but they are both amazing. I had no idea it was 46% until I was halfway through the bottle. Amazing value around or below $60. If you like Volans but enjoy things a touch more towards earthy and herbaceous tones, this is your jam. Highly recommend! ”

“Quite good. Prominent agave. Similar flavor profile to Volans, but with a mild burst of crisp brightness - oak-y apple or pear maybe? If you’ve had El Tequileno Reposado Gran Reserve you know what I mean. This is much more subtle and balanced - as to be expected from 1123. And the longer the bottle has been open, the less pronounced that gets. You’d never know this was 46%, and for around or under $60 this is a steal. I also tried the La Loma offering and prefer it slightly though the more I drink this, the (even) better it seems to get. ”

“Starting to grow on me a little. Very different and unfortunately the closest thing I can equate the nose to herbal-industrial. Interesting ginger beer thing going on. It’s very smooth and easy to sip. No doubt a quality made product, just not my cup or tea. Some people certainly seem to like it, though others also mention wide-ranging consistency issues so who knows? I’d welcome an opportunity to try it again from a different bottle but I highly recommend try before you buy if you can.”

“Score is definitely relative to the value but dang this is still really good. Mine is the hiproof.com single barrel store pick but I imagine the regular stuff is fairly similar. I quite like the repo but this is worth the extra $5. Lots of agave still shining through. Very well balanced for an anejo and highly sippable. If money were no object would I really take this over some of the others that I’ve given similar scores? No, but the value here is insane: This drinks better than a lot of anejos at two or three times the price, and there’s a lot of really terrible blancos out there for the same price as this anejo.”

“Trying Patron for the first time. Nothing special. I definitely taste that “soapy” artificial floral note some have mentioned. It’s indeed smooth otherwise, a bit sweet and reasonably drinkable if it’s your only choice. I feel like Herradura Anejo was better. Buy a bottle of Zumbador Anejo instead for half the price and thank me later. ”

“Honestly couldn’t discern much difference between this and the reposado. Prominent chocolate, lots of honey, baking spice and dried fruit to go along with some barrel flavor, which is slightly more pronounced here, but not pushing into whiskey territory. Reminds me of fruitcake. Similar nose and taste to Number Juan. It’s not gross or anything, just not really the profile I like.”

“Really good, and while I’m not a huge blanco connoisseur (more of a repo fan), I really do like this. Not much I can say that hasn’t already been said. It makes me very excited to try the reposado if I can ever find some at a reasonable price. If value wasn’t a ranking factor this would be a 90+, but it is what it is.”

“First, thank you to Delta Airlines for putting this (and a couple other great tequilas) on the shelves of the Sky Club lounges for me when I travel. Most places still don’t offer anything beyond a couple of big distributor, additive-y options, so those few “enlightened” companies deserve recognition for doing better. Bright, crisp agave-forward flavor. This is good, but given Ocho’s generally light flavor profiles, this is one of the few cases where I prefer the anejo over the reposado. And there are other repos I prefer to this. Still, I very much appreciate the craft here. ”

“It’s not bad at all - as expected from a 1579 product. Agave is definitely there but it skews toward sharp organic flavor notes than I prefer. Not to say I don’t appreciate this… my ideal taste profile just isn’t this. I’ve also tried 1579’s Nobleza 33 repo and found it very similar pallet-wise. Get this for much less $$$. ”

“Okay. Wow. This could be a new favorite for me. So smooth. Very much in the spirit of Volans, Ocho or AN1414 reposado. Also pretty similar to the El Tesoro single barrel repo I have. In other words delicious. DV might even be better. If you’re a fan of a traditional sweet/tangy/peppery flavor profile, don’t sleep on this. Beautiful agave takes center stage, but subtlety - no, perfectly- complimented by some great supporting flavors. Hey, a Felipe Camarena tahona repo for $55 at hiproof - there is no way you go wrong. Highly recommend. On second thought, don’t buy this. You wouldn’t like it (as I add all the remaining inventory to my cart). ”
