The 12 finalists are tequilas that offer vibrant and varied aromas and flavors with good texture and a pleasing aftertaste.
Siete Leguas means 'seven leagues' and was the name of Pancho Villa's favorite horse, and is also a reference of the distance a man could travel by horse (21 miles) in one day.
Blind tastings are the best way to find out what you really like, free of marketing hype, bias, and previous experiences. They also give you the opportunity to experience tequila in a whole new way—using only your senses.
We sent six blanco tequilas to 28 members of the Tequila Matchmaker Tasting Panel to rate blind. Four of them are new to the market, and two of them are tequilas that have been around for a long time.
It is time to celebrate tradition, consistency, honesty, and deliciousness. That’s why we’ve selected Siete Leguas Blanco as our Weekend Sipper. Let’s break down the reasons why we love this tequila so much.
The Ultimate Spirits "not like any other competition and doesn’t want to be" Challenge have released their results for 2014.
While the panel’s favorites were complex, elemental and intriguing, we were troubled by a lack of intensity in many of the bottles as well as by a sense of artificiality in some. As Florence put it, we found a great divide between those tequilas we liked
The birth brand to Patron. They sell Patron to a hair stylist and continue making good tequila. Make money and continue with your passion...what sounds better than that?
After revisiting Siete Leguas Blanco, I appreciate it even more than I did the first time. It’s not a tequila that tries to impress with intensity—it wins with balance. Cooked agave is front and center, followed by black pepper, citrus, minerals, and just enough earthy character to keep every sip interesting. The finish is clean, peppery, and leaves you wanting another sip. The more blancos I try, the more I appreciate what Siete Leguas has been doing for decades. A bottle I’ll always be happy to have on my shelf.
