“Zumbador High Proof I’m a big fan of Zumbador Blanco, so I had to give the High Proof a try. Coming out of El Sabino, this one definitely comes with a little more attitude. Lots of cooked agave, pepper and citrus, with a touch of sweetness in the background. The higher proof gives it more intensity and texture, but the agave still takes center stage. Bold, lively and full of character, with a nice lingering finish. Definitely not a shy tequila—and that’s part of the fun.”

“El Viejito Plata 42% Now this is my kind of blanco. Big agave character, a little heat, black pepper and citrus, with a nice earthy sweetness underneath. The extra proof gives it more punch and texture without taking away from the agave. It feels rustic, honest and full of personality. Not trying to be delicate or fancy—and honestly, that’s exactly what I like about it.”

“Lalo Blanco This is a really fun blanco to sip. Fresh agave comes through right away, with some citrus, green pepper and a little sweetness behind it. It has a nice lively character without being too aggressive, and there’s a subtle earthy note that keeps it interesting. The kind of tequila that feels easy to enjoy but still gives you something to discover as you keep sipping.”

“The first thing I get is cooked agave, followed by some vanilla, light caramel and a little oak. On the palate, it’s smooth and easy to drink, with the agave still showing through. I also get some baking spice and a touch of sweetness from the barrel. The finish is medium, warm and slightly sweet, with the agave and spice lingering for a bit. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I like that the barrel adds some character without taking away from the agave. It feels balanced and very easy to sip.”

“It’s always exciting to discover a new tequila brand, and Pelotón de la Muerte makes a strong first impression. Cooked agave takes center stage, supported by black pepper, citrus, fresh herbs, and a pronounced mineral backbone. The 46% ABV is well integrated, adding intensity without sacrificing balance. It drinks with confidence and feels true to a traditional profile. Definitely a brand I’ll be keeping an eye on as it continues to grow.”

“I’ve had blancos that are much sweeter, but this one goes in a different direction. The minerality really stood out for me from the first sip and became even more noticeable after it had a few minutes in the glass. The agave is still there, just not competing for attention. The higher proof adds texture without overpowering the flavors, making it easy to sip despite the extra ABV. I found myself coming back to the glass because every sip seemed to reveal a little more. If you enjoy mineral-driven blancos with a clean, peppery finish, this one is definitely worth trying.”

“I enjoyed this one more than I expected. The agave is front and center with fresh citrus, herbs, and a light mineral note. It has a soft texture and finishes clean with white pepper. Not an aggressive blanco, but one that rewards taking your time with it. I’d happily pour another glass.”
