Not too pronounced, but contains more than just mild sweetness and alcohol. Very smooth for a blanco. Probably intended as a mixer but I always sip neat.”

Los Rijos Tequila Añejo

“Same NOM as Artaño Reposado, which I also like. Los Rios Añejo has a little bit of a medicine flavor, and a soft bouquet on the nose. Hints of melon and butterscotch. Smooth finish, but with a gentle bite. Mysteriously, the añejo is about half the price of the reposado at Bevmo, which leads me to believe that maybe it's not the same juice aged longer, but perhaps a different distillate altogether. Who knows, really. For $25 this is a good deal. Not sure I would feel the same way if it were $40. ”

“I like Patron, but in general it feels overpriced. It's very good, and I constantly compare it with the value tequilas that I try. It generally justifies its more lofty status. The finish is the strongest point. Aroma isn't spectacular, and the flavor is good but a bit subdued. But the finish is somehow really light and effervescent. It also has a delicate mouth feel. I have tried a few tequilas that are just better in every sense though. And they're not more expensive. Perhaps they're harder to find, however. That's where Patron really stands out. The quality to availability ratio is high. You can always find Patron in any market, bar or restaurant in the US. With that in mind, it's always a solid choice.”

“EPDMT is like the house brand at Total Wine. They have multiple shelves filled with it throughout the store. Light on the nose, with a faint rubbing alcohol smell and not much else. Big on the tongue with a floral, melony sweetness that lingers though the finish. Slightly oily mouthfeel that coats your throat and palate. A good sipper as is. It would be a level up if the nose matched the tongue. ”

“A fine offering in the sub $25 tequila segment. Corazon comes from the San Matias group that also makes a good cheap mixto. This being 100% agave doesn't particularly put it over the top, however. It's a bit mild for a sipper, but no off flavors. ”
